My Mom is in the hospital..again! She was feeling light headed and dizzy as before. Had some blood taken and her count is down to 7. I think it's suppose to 10 or 12, but leaning more toward 12. She has had all these tests run, kidney, blood, bone marrow and more and they still are not sure why she is losing blood. We do know her kidneys have been functioning at 25%, not good. They had her taking iron supplements 3 times a day. The next thing they are wanting to try is to give her shots every day. If that doesn't work...dialisys.
I'm just a little nuts today...too close to Thanksgiving with all it takes, for all to be coming down again. Please keep her in your prayers.
Janet, I will keep your mom in my prayers and hope that there is nothing seriously wrong with her. I know its very hard when they reach a certain age, but keep your fingers crossed and hopefully they will find out exactly what is wrong with her kidneys and she will hopefully be out of the hospital before Thanksgiving. Janet try not to stress out , it only makes matters worse. Keep us posted..

Brought Mom home late this morning. They added 2 pints of blood and she's feeling her ole self. We have just got to find out why she is losing blood all the time. They did say her kidneys were functioning at 28% so that is an improvement, but very little. She goes back to her Dr. in 2 weeks and then the blood Dr. on Dec. 27th. Why do they have to wait so long?????

When my grandma was in her 80's she started losing blood volume like your Mother is. Sometimes she'd have blood in her stool, sometimes not. They did test after test and never did figure out what was really going on with her. The good news is she lived to be 94 and was able to walk, talk, sew, and so on till the very end. She got so tired of all the tests that the last time her dr wanted to do a colonoscopy she told him to shove that thing up his own a$$!
She was a spunky little thing!
I'll keep your Mom and you in my prayers.
