Is anyone else waking up early to watch? I will be up at 4:00 am this Friday :D I love anything royal, so there's no question lol!

Does anyone else even care? I read all the news stories and then see hundreds of comments from people who are so sick of the royal family blah blah blah so maybe I'm in the minority here

I think it's interesting. I won't make any special arrangements to watch it, but if I see it on I won't turn it off, lol! I hope they have a wonderful life together.

Lol, I will watch as much as I can before I have to go to work :) The two of them are doing their first official trip as a royal couple to Canada this summer. They won't be coming to my province though. The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh were here in my city 2005, but I was working and couldn't go see them!

I would love to be able to watch it but will be at work. I remember Prince Charles and Princess Diana's wedding, I think it's every little girls fantasy to have a wedding like that. Beautiful!!

I won't be waking up to watch it. I find it all fascinating, but I'll need my sleep to drive the munchkins to school.

I won't be getting up early to watch it but I'll probably watch the later reruns!! I've been watching some movies and stuff about the couple and wedding. They seem like a good couple together and I wish them the best. It has to be so hard to live under so much public scrutiny.

Lindsey
04-26-2011, 10:16 AM
I agree it must be so hard! Although it is really nice that he is able to marry who he chooses to marry... if Charles was able to do that, he probably would have ended up with Camilla at the start, instead of being forced to marry Diana, and she probably wouldn't have had such a tragic death... although maybe she wouldn't have had the ability to do so much charity work either.

Did you know that Kate will be the first commoner queen-to-be in over 350 years? She has no royal background at all, no ties to the royal family.

I won't be getting up to early to watch it either but I will definitely watch throughout the day. It is very interesting! I also remember Charles and Diana's wedding. And I agree with you Lynsey...Charles would have no doubt been with Camilla if he had had a choice.

I think I might get up to watch. What time is the actual ceremony? I too, remember Diana and Charles' wedding. It was a fairy tale!

OK, is 10:20AM in London, 4:20AM here? I'm just trying to figure out if I really have to get up at 4:00 or if I can wait till 5;00.

Lindsey
04-26-2011, 11:54 AM
I am on Central Standard Time and we are 7 hours behind London... so 4:00 here will be 11:00 there, when the marriage service begins.

gja1000
04-26-2011, 02:37 PM
Allrighty! I guess I'm up at 4:00 then :D

Lindsey

Allrighty! I guess I'm up at 4:00 then :D

You and me both :D So when they all appear on the balcony at 1:30, that should be 6:30... just enough time for me to shower, get ready for work and leave the house at 7:15!

DianaB
04-26-2011, 02:58 PM
Gayle, Lindsey is on "standard time" and we are on "daylight savings time" so you should have an hour difference somewhere. My poor brain can't figure it out so I'll leave that to you!!!

gja1000
04-26-2011, 04:25 PM
Oh, you are right Diana! It is spring forward, so it should be 5:00AM! (I think )

Janet

I'll have the TV on before I go on the route, hope I get to see some of it. It's going to be on TV
later tomorrow evening.

Lindsey

I just want to see her dress.

I'm not fond of the royal family. I don't like the way Diana was treated by the Queen, and I remember when the younger brother wore a Nazi uniform to a Halloween party in 2004 or 5. I also think Charles' cheating on Diana for all those years with Camille was a disgrace! I don't think there are excuses for cheating.

Growing up, I loved Queen Elizabeth, and the royals. Then, the Diana debacle happened. I really loved her! I'm sure there are plenty of stories about her too, but she charmed the world. Of course, we got the Americanized version, which tends to be negative and gossipy.

Sorry to be so judgmental, but they did a couple of things that really push my buttons.

gja1000
04-27-2011, 07:00 PM
I just want to see her dress.

LOL! ME TOO, JUDY! I just want to see her dress! And of course, I can see it a million times after the wedding, but I want to see it when it happens.

Now I feel like a b**** for my tirade about the royals. I really apologize for being so judgmental. I only know what I learned from the American media, who are known for their yellow journalism. Sorry:(:(:(!!!

Enjoy watching the wedding, and I will love seeing her dress. I do hope they have a lovely wedding and a very happy marriage.

Lindsey
04-29-2011, 02:33 AM
Me too! When she first stood beside William, and they were smiling and talking, he leaned over and said "You look beautiful" :) I really hope this lasts forever. They seem so normal!

gja1000
04-29-2011, 02:34 AM
My Yorkie boys are mad that I am up and not feeding them. They are doing all sorts of dances on the couch telling me they are hungry and I am ignoring them. LOL

I don't like what Princesses Beatirce and Eugenie are wearing (right behind the Queen and Duke) :( They looks like outfits for 70 year old women.

gja1000
04-29-2011, 02:39 AM
They definitely do not look stylish. I hadn't seen them in years.

gja1000

Lindsey

I wish her mom looked happier to be there! I haven't seen her smile yet. But maybe it's just nerves!

gja1000

Reserved, elegant, and poised, are the words the commentators are using to describe her. I think they are correct. They also compare her to Princess Grace and I would have to agree.

I saw the reruns this morning.....and Kate is just beautiful!!!! Her dress is a lot like Princess Grace's and they've been comparing them as such. It's more of an older fashioned look but I suppose that's what they have to go for. It would probably be frowned on to have a modern tight dress!!!!

I just love how the people love her!! Personally I think that the two of them are a good match and I hope that things go well for them.

I think that Kate's mother was trying not to cry.....after all this was her first daughter getting married (I think) and that's hard but then to also marry into such a royal family!! I'm sure she was very overcome with emotions. Just think of everything that Kate's going to have to deal with.....just getting married is hard enough without all of the royal stuff that goes with it.

Everything was just beautiful!!! I too loved Pippa's dress!!! They've been showing some of the hats that the women wore......very different!!!!

Janet

I saw them exchange vows before my bus route. So beautiful! I really hope they make it forever, they sure look like they are in love...unlike Charles at his wedding.

I sure did! That was fun to read!

She is gorgeous, and I love her dress! Her sister's dress is also beautiful. Is she going to be Queen someday? I thought you had to be born into that.

Some of the guests' hats were magnificent!

I wish them all the happiness. It is a happy thing to watch a wedding~!

I think she will be queen if William ascends to be the King. She will never be a ruler like Queen Elizabeth. If William becomes King and she becomes Queen, and if William should die, then Harry becomes the ruling King. Of course I could be completely wrong about all of this.

You are right :) She will be Queen consort. If William dies before having children, Harry would become King. If they have children, their children will be next in line to the throne.

Hi... I too have really enjoyed watching the wedding, and they both looked so happy and comfortable together, it was a wonderful day.

I think Charles always had the option to marry Camilla all those years ago, they were actually formally courting each other. However Charles went away on military duties.... and darling Camilla went and married someone else, she chose not to wait for him. I just dont like her at all.....

I love most of the Royal family... however i do feel that Charles put Diana through a lot of misery, (I know she was not perfect either), but with Charles still involved with Camilla... their marriage did not stand a chance. Diana herself quoted in an interview "There are three people in this marriage"

So sad........

I thought that the royal courtiers didn't think she was a suitable match for him, so they encouraged him to marry someone else. Either way, it was terrible for everyone :(

This thread, and the one about the elections in Canada have been so interesting! It is great to get the true picture about what is going on in the world.
