Glen and I are headed to Dallas on Wednesday. We have a friend from Guatamala, Hugo, who is just the nicest man but he's gotten in trouble with imigration. He had a green card years ago but he lost it when he went back to visit his Dad who was dying. While he was there he was attacked and spent a lot of time in the hospital (he was attacked with a machete across his face and over his body). I guess that you can only leave for two weeks and he was gone more because of his injuries. He's afraid to go back because people who have been in America are usually killed and since they've already tried once he's really afraid of what will happen. Anyway, he goes to court on Thursday morning and several of us that know him are going to go down to support him. Things don't look very promising for him which is sad. He is a Christian and always has the greatest smile and is so friendly!! I hope that things work out for the best for him. We would appreciate any prayers for Hugo!! Thanks!!!!

I'm sorry your friend is going through this. Hopefully things will go in his favor with all of his supporters and prayers being said.

Oh dear Diana! You are such good people to be so kind and supportive. I only hope that I have at least one friend who is as kind and supportive to me (should I need it) as you and Glen. I hope everything goes well for your friend! My housekeeper is from Guatemala, and she still has family there. She goes there occasionally to visit. In fact, she just borrowed $500 from us to make the trip. It is scary what can happen!

It is scary. I so hope that Hugo can stay here legally. He's such a great help to Feyn with his cattle and goats. That's what he did in Guatamala.

We're not the only ones that are going down. Feyn and Tammy and Tammy's parents are going as well as Hugo and his girlfriend, Sandy.........eight of us in all. We're leaving early in the morning because Hugo has an appointment with a lawyer in a different town south of Dallas.....so we'll be on the road for quite awhile tomorrow.

I wish that you could meet Hugo.....he just has the most wonderful smile and he smiles a lot!!! He's just a dear man!!

I will certainly be praying for your friend. He sounds like a very nice man! I hope he gets to stay here in the states. Will be praying for you all to have a safe trip.

My younger brother adopted a little girl from Quatemala. She is now 9 yrs old and just as sweet as she can be. She was almost 2 when they got her. Her name is Allison.

We got back late last night......it sure was a long trip!! The judge wants Hugo to come back later in the month and then he'll give his judgement. It was fustrating because it means another trip down there. The lawyer was upset because he could have given his judgement this time. The lawyer seemed incompetent and the judge was upset with him. They really got into it at the end and the judge was pushing the lawyer for his opinion which he shouldn't have been doing.1

I thought that Hugo did a good job testifying. He spoke in spanish and there was in interperter there......very interesting. We all left pretty upset over how things went.

On the other hand......Feyn and Tammy took Glen and I around downtown Dallas. We were at the Grassy Knoll where Kennedy was shot. It was all very interesting and yet, sad because you knew of the great sadness that was there on that day.

We also walked around the area that evening and took a horse and buggy ride which was interesting because our driver talked about all the historical buildings that were in the area. Then we found a nice steakhouse and ate on the sidewalk there. It reminded me of what New Orleans must be like because there was a saxophone player that was playing down the street and there were also several other sidewalk cafes. Our food was very good but everything was ala carte so it ended up being very expensive.......but that was our fault because they had a menu with prices on it where we went in at. It was so nice walking around and looking at things. Plus it was very safe....there were a lot of police officers all around.

Sorry things didn't go as expected for Hugo, but hopefully when he goes back...all will be fine and he'll be allowed to stay.

Dallas is wonderful Diana. I was there many years ago and loved it. The grassy knoll area made me cry....it brought so much emotion out in me. Also got to see the gravesites of Bonnie and Clyde. At first they were buried side by side, but her family didn't want her beside him and had her moved. I would love to go back there someday. Glad you had a great time. Oh...almost forgot...I got to walk all around the property where the TV show Dallas was filmed and sat in a lounger beside the pool.

Glad you had a great time.
