View Full Version : I Think I'm Sick....

Yesterday I was feeling kind of sluggish and my knees were aching (we had rain move in). Then last night before I went to bed, I got chilled so bad I thought I was going to shake my skin right off my bones. I got another blanket out and it took like what seemed forever for me to quit shaking. I finally fell asleep (I went to bed at 10) and now, it's 2:30 AM and I'm wide awake. If I stay under the blankets, I get really hot, but as soon as I pull them off, I start getting the chills again. I also have a rattle when I let breathe out. My chest aches too. Whatever this is...sure hope it's gone soon. This shaking makes all my joints hurt. Man....getting older and not feeling well sucks!

Uh-Oh Janet, it does sound like you're getting sick! You must have had some fever. Take good care of yourself, and don't wait too long to go to the doctor if you get worse.

Chest rattles are NOT GOOD JANET! If it gets any worse - GET TO THE DOCTOR - or just GO NOW! My friend's husband just got out of the hospital with pneumonia. He's a healthy 50-something so chest rattles are nothing to ignore!

The rattling seems to have moved up to my throat. Just can't clear it out. I got home from my route around 8:30 and went straight to bed. Slept on and off till after 11. I was wanting to call the dr, but he is out on Wednesdays so if I'm not better tomorrow...he'll be my first phone call. I've gotten to be a big baby when I get sick now. Don't like it......not one little bit!!

You certainly are NOT a baby!! I think a person should go to the doctor when they are sick. Why spend weeks feeling bad waiting for something to go away when you could go to the doctor, take medicine and get well? You sure don't want to be sick during the holidays!

I'm pretty much the opposite - I NEVER go to the doctor. Being a nurse though, I usually know when something is serious or not.

But a rattle in the chest is nothing to mess with, it could be very serious, especially in the winter.

I slept so much better last night even though I slept most of the time between routes yesterday. I am up earlier than I need to be, but that's okay. The best news is that so far this morning, my rattle is hardly noticeable. I did worry if the noise was going to let me sleep last night, but I was able to.

It sounds like it may be resolving on its own, that's great! But if that rattle comes back you get to the doc right away.

Hope your felling better now. when is your last day to drive the bus?

Janet

Tuesday is my last day until January 4th. I'm so ready!

Well my rattle is more in my throat now and making me cough. You know what that means....cough and pee...cough and pee. Grrrrrrrr!

LOL Janet - that's me too when I have a bad cough!

A friend of mine said she was having some kind of surgery because after her hysterectomy, she pees/leaks all the time too. Something about tightening or lifting her bladder. Well...if it works for her I may have to look into this. Not only have I had a hysterectomy, but I'm overweight and I guess those are two of the causes. I have to wear one of those Poise or Tena pads every single day. Don't know what it feels like anymore not to. I really am tired of it and willing to try surgery if it will work. Have you ever heard of surgery for this Gayle?

Yep, they have several techniques for lifting up the bladder for better urine control. Lots of women have it done, so if you are already wearing a pad everyday, I'd definitely look into it.

I had it done a few years ago when I had my hysterectomy. They used mesh to fix it, and it works great!!

I have to call my dr first thing Monday morning to schedule my CDL physical, so I'll ask him about it then. I also want him to make this nasty cough go away.

Did it hurt or anything afterwards Betsi? They do put put you out right??

I had a vaginal hysterectomy, and they did it at the same time and the same way. I have no idea what it would be like to just have that done, but I think whatever it felt like at the time, I would do it again. The doc said it was like putting it in a hammock, with the neck of your bladder tilting upwards so that it didn't "spill".

Janet

Well....I've already had the hysterectomy, so I'll just have to ask him some questions! I'm tired of peeing on the time.

How are you feeling???......Any better??

Janet

Yes, I'm feeling better but still have the cackle when I breathe out. Very disturbing, but I'm calling the dr this morning. Hopefully I'll be on the mend soon. I could just kick myself for putting it off.

Did you get an appointment, Janet? I have heard of the surgery you had Betsi. I never heard anything bad about it!

Janet

I have an appointment for 11:00 Tuesday morning. I will get my CDL physical and then I want to talk about this peeing. It's absolutely disgusting how much I go. I can't go anywhere when I'm going this much without plenty of pad, a diaper and a change of clothing just in case. I'm going to insist he send me to someone who knows about this type of thing.

Good for you, Janet! Good luck tomorrow, and I hope he clears that cough up too.

I did have to go to a urologist, Janet. He did the bladder and the gynecologist did the rest, they just did it at the same time. There are tests the urologist will do to see how much you stress leak. Not the most comfortable tests in the world, but worth it!

Janet
12-19-2011, 08:03 PM
Tell me about it Betsi...so I can ask questions. Is it painful??

gja1000
12-19-2011, 08:50 PM
Since Betsi had it done with a hysterectomy, it would be hard to separate the hysterectomy pain from the bladder suspension pain. I've not had it done, but I would imagine there would be some discomfort, but not as much as a hysterectomy.

I was more worried about what she called the stress leak test. I just like being prepared..lol.

If I can remember, lol! It's been several years ago. Seems like he filled my bladder with liquid then pushed around to see if he could make it leak, which of course it did. The tests are a little uncomfortable, but not painful. Nothing you can't stand by any means. I never wear a pad, and I can cough and sneeze without squeezing my legs together:p Ask me anything Janet, I'm not shy;)

I saw my doctor this morning. He said my lungs are full and making lots of noise....I told him "duh, I could have told you that. So he put me on an antibiotic and some Robitussin with codeine cough medicine. I LOVE that stuff, well anything really with codeine...lolol.

I also have an appointment with a urologist on January 30th. I still have blood in my urine, but they have found it before. When they sent me to a urologist before, they couldn't find anything.

Oh Janet, I'm so glad you went to the doctor! I hope the medicine works fast. I'm happy you are going to the urologist, I just know they can help you. Feel better!!

Janet

I'm glad I have the appointment too. I would rather have a female Dr., but it's okay. I just want to quit peeing all the time and not have to wear a pad. Also wish I didn't have to wait so long. I may call and see if I can change the appointment to earlier in the day so I won't miss driving the bus. Just can't afford to be off anymore than I have to.

I'm glad you went to the doctor - "full" lungs is NOT GOOD!!!

I'm glad that you went to the doctor too. Hopefully the antibiotics will help you get over this!!

I hope that your other appointment works out well for you as well. I know that you've dealt with stress leaking for some time.

Janet I feel your pain about pads. I don't twinkle but I get my period every two weeks and they last from one whole week to even two weeks. :( Getting my period two times a month is not fun.

You guys think I might get my menopause early if I keep throwing out my eggs that fast?
