I was reading through the posts today and there was a post that mentioned that their son had screwed a bunch of screws into the wall and I remembered one of the worst gifts that I ever gave my son was a set of screwdrivers! He was only about 9-10 yrs old and he used them to take apart EVERY toy that he could find that would work with the screwdrivers!! (He never figured out how to put the toys back together.) Then he used them to drill holes in the wall under his sister's bed.
What's the worst gift that you've ever given? Maybe it was to one of your kids......maybe your husband.......mom or mother-in-law. Tell us about it!!!
I didn't give it to her, BUT a friend of mine has always been the type who has to keep her hands busy. so she's always fingering something. As a joke her hubbie bought her some "slime" that was popular about 20 yrs ago. She'd sit and play with that stuff while visiting, watching tv, or whatever. HE got silly one night and pulled her waistband out and dropped in down her pants. At that point they found out WHY you weren't supposed to get it in hair. ;) It attached itself so badly that she had to cut it out. LOL
She still says that was the best and worst gift he ever gave her. ROFL

If I've given a bad gift, no one has ever told me....LOL
But the worst gift I ever recieved was for my birthday a long time ago. My husband bought me a carton of cigarettes. I was so disgusted and hurt....he might as well told me to go die somewhere!!!
When I was 21 and my sister was turning 15, I got my parents permission to give her a puppy for her Birthday. Thinking I'd be funny, I bought a 3 lb bag of puppy chow to go with it and wrapped that up to hand her first. I figured she'd see what it was and say "But I don't have a dog!"
She eagerly unwrapped the package and started crying and screaming at me because she took it to mean I was insinuating she was a dog! I had to whip the puppy out from behind my back quick to shut her up. :( That one sure didn't go over like I'd planned!

I like how your sister over reacted
I would've just stared at you like "what the h*ll?"
when people try to do fun tricks on me for gifts I just stare at them like "can we move on now?"
ha ha ha
I think I give ok gifts!!!
the worst gifts I give to me are like none. ha ha, if I forget someone!

My sister was in love with her jane West doll as a kid. it is molded plastic from head to toe..the clothing and hair are painted on...And it is the ugliest doll I have ever ever seen! WELL... For Christmas a few years ago I got her this same doll on ebay as a gag gift! It was still the UGLIEST doll ever, and we all got the biggest laugh, except my sister... she was thrilled and was going to KEEP the thing on a shelf in her house!!! Here's pics of JANE WEST!

That was pretty tacky to give you back a gift that you had given to your MIL!!

Did the sister-in-law know you had given it to the mother-in-law? If not, that's just too funny!!!! LOLOLOLOL
I received a gift last year that I know a couple had received as a wedding gift (we were at their shower), and my daughter received a gift from the same couple that we had given him for his birthday a few years ago. People need to be more careful recycling gifts. In our case, this couple is very special and we know their heart is in the right place, and they have no idea that we realize what they did. Life can be interesting and humorous at times. ;)

Yes she knew before she gave it to me. The sad part is when my MIL passed my FIL was going to give it to me. That same day she stole it from the house. She had it hanging in her house for the next year then took it down and wrapped it up and gave it to me for Christmas. Her husband flat out told us it was because she felt guilty everytime we came up there and seen it on her wall.

Well, under those circumstances, at least you got it as you should have, but a nicer thing for her to have done is given you a nice gift, and used this item to decorate the bow or something, with a nice note saying it should have been yours all along with a sincere apology. That would have been a nicer gesture.

I don't know that I have ever gotten a bad gift really. The only thing that bothers me is that you can tell not a lot of thought went into them. When I buy gifts I am always thinking about the person. Will they like it or use it. I jsut wish sometimes a little thought was put into something like that for me.

If I've given a bad gift, I wasn't alerted to it. Now, one Valentine's day, my (then future inlaws) sent a box of valentine gifts to be given to my daughter. Long story short, my husband (then boyfriend), didn't give my daughter the gift...instead, he gave the gift to me (a little stuffed teddy bear), then the jerk broke up with me. Without going into full details, he learned his lesson but I did finally take him back almost 2 months later.
Now, bad gift giving runs on hubby's side of the family. His cousin's wife and I were preggers at the same time...her daughter was born 2 weeks before my son. Anyway, for Christmas, the year she was preggers, he got her a pack of scrunchi's (for your hair) and a bottle of Pepto Bismol. I guess cause she complained of heartburn. The following year, a carton of cigs.
