When are your daughters old enough to shave? my mom let me shave when i was twelve but my ten year old asked me last night if she could start shaving. she said that all the girls in 5th grade shave except for the losers...she's already wearing a bra-she's starting to develop little skeetie bites as i call them and she says they are sore...me being flat-chested am clueless so went ahead and got her a bra. she's growing up so fast...my little baby....waaahhhhh:p

I'd say if she wants to let her. I started when everyone at school started talking about it. My mom started me out using old razors of my dads so I didn't cut myself.

Peer pressure is so awful isn't it? I remember my mom letting me at about 13 or so I think, (didn't really need to shave, just wanted to because of the others). You can talk with her about it and let her know that once she does it, there is no going back. She'll need to shave for the rest of her life. That's what my mom told me and if I remember right, I did wait another 2 or 3 months, but then she let me.

I allowed my daughter to shave when she was in 5th grade. 5th grade down here is the last of the elementary years since 6th is junior high. After the first couple of weeks, she realized what a pain it was to shave. She's doing good if she shaves once a week now.

thank you for your replies....i've been thinking about letting her use that new Veet shaving system with the plastic blade and depilatory cream-or do you think that would be to strong for her skin?

Have her try a sample area first. I would suggest her first time be on a Friday night, so if there is any kind of reaction, she won't be embarassed to go to school.

My situation is kind of similiar. My 15 year old son just started shaving early summer. Doesn't need to all the time, but it's just another sign he is growning up even more. This is hard on us mothers how did our mothers do it?

Let her use a good body lotion after shaving.
Good luck.;)

this is so touching lol but my mom helped me shave my legs for the first time on mothers day i think i was 12 because i was wearing shorts and it just bothered me that day and we were going to a family party so she sat me on the toilet in my shorts and showed me how to do it as she was crying because i was becoming a woman it makes me a little teary eyed looking back and thinking about it. As for me no girls Thank goodness lol!

My son only has a few on his chin and then a mustache that he shaves. LOL yesterday I caught him looking in the mirror and I asked if he like what he saw :D and he said he was just making sure his "6-pack" was still there. :D :D He's been lifting weights and since he's so skinny, thought he could buff up a little. It is working, he quite a handsome young man.

I haven't read all the posts but I think I would explain to her that just because other girls do doesn't mean that she might be ready to. If during your discussion you feel she actually has a need to shave I'd let her. If not then there is really no sense to let her yet.
My girls are totally different and developed differently. Therefore they started doing things at different ages. One started her period at 10!!!! the other at 13, but that's another topic.
Growing up is hard. ;) good luck mom you're doing great

since i'm a little younger.. i actually started my period when i was 10 and also started shaving then as well. too freakin bad my boobs didn't really develop then too! lol
but just don't let your daughter do what i did.. because of peer pressure, plus where i lived and a tthe time it was totally in.. i shaved my eyebrows off in the 6th grade.. i was 11 but im going to be 21 and its still hasn't grown back the way it used to be...
i think the veet system is awesome :) .. now i just prefer waxing.. gets rid of all the dead skin cells and keeps the hairs thin and doesn't grow back as fast and also no ingrown hairs.. yes i wax everything .. :o

i tried waxing one time and the pain!!! i've gotten my eyebrows waxed once but they are blonde so you really can't see them...my daughter's are getting darker and she looks like man eyebrow's she let me pluck about two hairs one time and wouldn't let me near her with the tweezers she runs!!! i told her we can get them waxed at the salon but she doesn't want to do that just yet. how do you wax your "area" without screaming? the one time i tried i had blood coming out of my pores and it raised the veins up on my bikini area-you know where it peeks out from your panties??? maybe i did it wrong...but i would love to wax my legs cuz i hate to shave...i have very fine blonde hair on my legs and no underarm hari-it never grew-my mom and friends are so jealous...hopefully my daughter's won't have to shave under their arms either i have heard it is no fun at all so i consider myself blessed!!!:D any hints or products let me know....thanks a billion!!

My mom let me shave my legs at 12. I remember in jr. high my best friend was not allowed to shave her legs. She was Pentecostal and wasn't allowed to wear pants either. The kids used to tease her so bad, she would burst out into tears. i used to stick up for her. It was so hurtful. I think if your daugher is being teased, she should be allowed to do it, so long as you supervise her to make sure she doesn't hurt herself. Peer pressure is rough but being teased is even worse.

the first time i got the area waxed lol it didn't hurt only one part maybe.. lol.. but i guess it depends where you get it done, who does, how good they are and what kind of wax they use. i had no blood on any of my pores whatsoever and no veins.. it was just smooooooth as a baby's behind! lol..
and yes you are VERY blessed to not have underarm hair.. i hate it.. soo much :(

I just thought of something, but don't know if it will work.....when I started shaving my legs I started with a razor with a blade. We didn't have the disposalable then, so cuts and razor burns were done easily. Maybe an electric razor would work for her first time...has anyone used one for their first time?

Yes! An electric razor is a great idea! When I first started shaving after my 5th grade year, I used an electric razor. My mom didn't want to worry about me cutting myself.
