Sure looks like the month of December gave many of us good reason to vent...LOL
The holiday season can sure make us and our families crabby!!

My tree has been up for 3 weeks now. I finally got the lights on it and this morning my son started decorating it. Decided it just wasn't fun I guess and quit after putting on 20 ornaments. Guess that's it. I didn't say anything, just..."when your dad comes in you guys need to put the rest of the decorations back up in the attic. So, no more decorations will be put out. I'm tired of everything being left up to me...so that's it. I hate Christmas (not the reason behind it) always have and I'm done. I will be putting most of my decorations online to sell or save them for my garage sale this spring. I'll continue to buy presents, but will not decorate anymore. Just not worth the hassle!

I did want to take pictures of the doggies at Christmas, but maybe I can find a nice Christmas picture and put them in that....LOL

Hope the rest of you are doing good!!

Oh, Janet! I totally understand how you feel. Decoration...including putting up the lights on the house, etc are totally up to me. This year, I hung the stockings and put up the tree...THAT'S IT!

Put your ornaments on eBay...that way we can all bid on them.:D

My son went out and rode his bike down the road and came back and put a few more ornaments on the tree. I went in with him and set just a couple of things out. I'll be so glad when it's all over. :)

I am the one that does most of the decorating around here too. It gets to be a bit at times I agree. My daughter is getting older now and she helped me put a lot of decorations up this year so that was nice. I am with you tho. I will be glad when I can put mydecorations back up. ((hugs))

I am ready for it to get here too!!!! I am sure for different reasons though. lol My house is small so I look forward to being able to take the tree down and packing it all up so I can have room to move around in my livingroom again!

I hope your family comes around and helps out more Janet!

I'm not putting much out as far a decorations go this year either. I have too many other things that need done and, like you, I don't have anyone to help get them out. Maybe next year I should start getting decorations out in July!!! Then MAYBE I'd be ready by Christmas!!!

I still have six boxes of decorations sitting in the living room. I'm hoping to get them put in another room before Christmas morning....LMAO!!! I still have just a couple of things to get for hubby, but it will have to wait until Friday afternoon or Saturday morning. THEN I will be completely done....yeah!!!

I JUST! put my boxes away. It really doesn't feel like Christmas to me to be honest. So I guess I am just ready for it to be over. I just wanna put all the decorations up and get my house back to normal.

You ladies seem to be the only ones who understand! I just don't like having my house out of whack...LOL Since I don't have much out...I will probably put everything up on Christmas day....later in the afternoon. We won't be doing anything else anyway...:)

My husband and I didn't decorate for Christmas this year - no tree or anything! We've just been so busy.....we finally had time today, but I mean, Christmas is this weekend.... no point in docorating now to just take it down in a week. So yeah, I feel un-festive :( Boo.

I hardly decorated this year and know just what you mean !! It's so much work and unless you plan to really party and have lots of company - then why not keep it simple till things are easier for you ??? there is no law that says you HAVE to decorate and sometimes just a few really nice touches mean the same as alot of decorations.....I have a wreath and some things up in my house and really Love the glow of lights so may put some up ...but I didn't even do a tree - and man do I feel guilty.

We only put up the tree and that is mostly just because the kids expect there to be a place for their presents LOL

I take everything down Christmas afternoon and put it all away until next December. It really irks me when I see Christmas trees up and it is Valentines Day!!

Okay, what is the deal this year??? I have spoken with more people who just are not ready for Christmas this year. Many are like those who've posted on this thread. I have a customer with early elementary aged children who said they hadn't gotten around to putting up a tree yet, and probably just won't bother. Several other people in various stages of life have said the same thing.

I'm not in the mood this year either. Our daughters are getting older and so are we, so it's just not the same as it was when they were younger. If we want something we go get it. So it's harder to buy gifts. Our girls always have wants, but our oldest said we already do so much for them, they really don't expect us to do much for Christmas.

I don't understand overall, though why this year is so different from others in the past. It is the underlying political climate? The war in Iraq? Our dissatisfaction with our culture and how bad we all feel things are getting?

Tell you what, I challenge all of us to think of something really positive, and post on the positive forum. We have to get in a better mood!!!!

I'm not sure what the deal is myself. I'm trying to get in the mood, but it's just not there. Besides everything else you mentioned..which I whole heartedly agree with...I think also that when you start seeing Christmas items for sale in October, it just gets old by the time Christmas actually gets here. Here at my house, within the last couple of days, we have talked about having Christmas at a different time next year. Now if we actually do this is another thing, but it sure would be easier.
