LOL
Yesterday my son has his preschool Christmas party (complete with a gift exchange!!   ) and the kids had made gifts for the mommy's and daddy's and wrapped them. The part that made me cry is the little tag attached to the ribbon. the ribbon is red cloth, NOT PAPER and the tag reads as follows"
This ribbon is very special, you see.
Untie it and it's the same size as me!
I told my husband I have to put it in his baby book after we open it Christmas morning. It is the cutest thing! And the same size as him!! Years from now I can take out that ribbon and tell him, "This is how big you were at Christmas 2006!":D

That is just loverly :) I still have some dried flowers my son done at school when he was five now 18, the children grew the flowers in the school garden and then dried them for a present at christmas. I will take the idea of the ribbon and measure my grandaughter we used to mark the door frame but over the years it wears or gets painted.

Awwww! What a sweet gift!!! Teachers come up with some of the cutest gifts!! My son is 32 and I have an ornament that he made when he was very young. It's a rolled up piece of brown paper with little round pieces of paper glued to the sides of it and hung by a paper clip. It's suppose to be a pinecone!! My son has threatened to throw it away and so now we keep an eye on it to make sure that he doesn't follow through with his threat. I've been thinking that I should get a small shadow box and frame it in that to keep it in and display at Christmas time! It's one of those things that only a Mom could love!!

I totally understand!! But unlike your son, I have my ornaments from my childhood. To me they are just more treasures to share with my children. I get to tell them things like, "This one is from when mommy was your age" or "Grandma gave me this when I was only..." and so on. Those little paper ornaments are such treasures!!
