I was watching the 11:00 news...there was a drive by shooting in the town where I live...well..they actually consider it a city but it is a small city...we live on the outskirts..anyway...I think they know who the kid is but haven't caught him yet:eek: he shot 5 rounds into the car and there was a 4 year old boy in it...I was on YT so wasn't really paying to much attention but when I heard Gardner I nearly freaked out! I don't think anyone got hurt though. But, how scary!! What in Gods name is happening!!! Isn't there enough fighting, shooting and killing in this world right now!

Oh Brenda....it is scary. Our little city (town) use to be so safe, never had to lock doors, sleep with windows and doors open and unlocked....now we've even had drive by shootings within the last 2 years. Scary world we live in.

That is scary that even our little towns and communities aren't safe. I live near a town of 2,600 and so far I don't think that we've had any drive by shootings, unless BB guns count! You know that eventually all the evil from the big cities spills out into the rural areas too. We're a little later getting it but eventually it gets here. So sad!!

It is VERY sad! These people that do this usually are trying to shoot a specific person (not that this is ok)and end up killing innocent people...I HATE guns...I'm glad I had girls...no hunting in this family!! People are just insane today! And alot of times it just random shooting FOR WHAT! and to prove WHAT POINT!! I just don't understand..

I don't hate guns and I think that every person has the right to have them as long as they've had training on how to handle them. Children are desynthesized (?) to the effects of shooting someone buy the use of video games and by watching violent tv shows and movies. My own daughter at age 14 goes hunting with her dad and there are children even younger than that that are being trained to use a gun. They are not a danger with their guns because they are being properly trained how and when to use one.
It's kids that have access to guns and haven't received training that are the problem. Respect for other people and their opinions also should go in here too. Not to turn to guns to settle our differences.

I agree, it's not the guns that kill, it's the people. It would absolutely scare me to death for them to be banned, because then only the bad people would have them...they've found a way to get everything else...then where would we be. Like the NRA says...they'd have to pry it from my cold dead fingers. AND no....I usually don't support the NRA...but they do have a few phrases that I agree with.
YIKES
The only shootings here are domestic abuse related so far. Our county has on average, less than one murder per year so far.
My friend used to live in Denver, and told us how his neighbors dog was shot off the back of their couch by a random shooter driving by. I can't even imagine living where that kind of stupidity happens! They never used their pretty front porch for fear they'd be sitting ducks.

The city we live in is not very large. Around 65,000 and we've had several drive by shootings, at least one that I know of in a very nice neighborhood. Where, if memory serves me right, a teenager was killed. A small child was killed in another drive by. He was inside his families mobile home. That one was gang and drug related. It's so crazy these days. There are lots of contributing factors. Poor parenting, influence of television and video games as already stated.
Brooke, so sad this has happened in your town. If we could reach out and teach people that there is another way. It's just so hard to reach everyone, and if we could, they would not all listen. My heart aches over this.

oh wow.......you reminded me of when I SAW a drive by - actually I've seen 2 horrible things when I lived in apartments.
One night I was walking from my car to my apartment and saw a dead girl laying in a parking lot of an apartment complex.....I stayed with her till I saw a security guard....:(
AND another time - I was walking to the store one night and someone did a drive by not 30 feet in front of me - the car passed by me with the gun still out the window... but he had it pointing up - he could have shot me on the spot -
I didn't duck or run - I just FROZE........I had seen the window open and saw the gun come out - he shot into a small group of men - (he shot a guy in the butt I heard later) ....but that was WAY Too close for me........It was like time stood still. I can still remember that whole thing like it happened in slow motion.
I moved out of that neighborhood shortly after that.

Drive by shootings scare the crap outta me. I used to live in Southern CA and they were constant. Gangs were outta control to say the least, still are!
Now living in Arkansas, especially in the country gun fire shots are constant. Hunting, target practice, etc. So I've find myself not even reacting or giving it a second thought when I hear a shot fired.
Years ago I went back to So Cal to visit my brother. Him and I were out front in his yard chatting. A gun shot went off and he ducked. I just stood there with the look on my face "what's the problem?". I guess I have become numb to it??
