Ya this year has been quite the eye opener

my 18th birthday
a bit of a deal

most of my family didn't get me gifts

Christmas
most of my family didn't get me gifts

I'm not a selfish girl. but I like to be shown some appreciation
especially since it's hard. I'm the oldest and the only for a while

and I can't stand seeing my cousins that are 4 years younger then me and all related (there's a group of 4 that are all siblings) get so much crap when they actually don't think of us as their actual family
which is crap
they just don't remember when they were very young and everything we did for them

but yet everyone goes out of their ways for them
because they had a "hard childhood"
they were very little then and don't remember anything and have made out with an awesome life and have more than everything a kid could ask for
but everyone forgets that I'm STUCK in the bad childhood. I still live with the psycho mom.

ok I'm not asking for attention
as I hate attention
I'm just asking for a "happy birthday" phone call
or maybe some cake and ice cream with my family that I always put first?

Sorry you're having a hard time. Wish they could see you as you are and show their appreciation. It does get better with time...so don't dwell on it.

Happy be-lated birthday. My birthday is today. I totally understand what you mean. You deserve some sort of acknowledgement, plus 18 is a big one, you are officially an adult. It also has to be so hard to watch everyone dout on the younger ones like you don't exist. I will admit it's more fun to buy toys for youngsters, but there is no reason you should get left out. I'm sorry that happened. Again happy B-day.

I dont care how old one get's, I honestly feel that deep down inside each one of us wants to feel special and loved on their own Birthday. It's never a selfish feeling really i dont' think. I mean really? What's wrong with wanting to feel special?

I am sorry you went through this. I hope there have been days since your Birthday that you've had a moment to feel special and loved.

Happy Belated Birthday!! ;)

Happy belated Birthday Sara!
I'm 52 and I STILL like to be treated special on my birthday... so I don't think you're at all out of line.

Birthdays are such a big deal!! That's your day to shine, your day to be pampered and be told nice things, when people forget or don't make a big deal that's terrible on their part, so

:bday: :1luvu: :bday: :1luvu: :bday:

Happy Belated Birthday!!

I just saw this and HAPPY LATE BIRTHDAY WISHES TO YOU sweetie - that does sound hurtful. You should talk to your family and tell them how you feel
