My mother-in-law passed at 11:54 this morning. My husband, his step-sister and step-brother were with her. My husband is taking this very hard and I think now is regretting he was with her as she passed.....he has never watched someone die before and he did say it was awful.

Thank you everyone for the support, kindness, love and prayers during this very difficult time for me and my family.

Janet, I checked on here this morning before I left for work to see if you had posted. I'm so sorry about your MIL. You and your family are still in my prayers. I'm praying that the Lord will wrap His arms around you and give you comfort. Your husband will have to remember her how she was and not to remember how she died. At least she didn't die alone. One of my regrets, and there was nothing I could do about it, is that my Dad died alone. I wanted to be there when he went, but he died early in the morning in his apartment.

My hugs and prayers are with you and your family right now.
I hope your husband is able to see that now she is free of her pain and her fear; and knowing she passed in the company of those who loved her had to make her heart glad.
I've been with loved ones while they died, and it IS hard, but later you are very glad that you were there. I held my 10 yr old nephews hand as he died... believe me I DO understand. How much sadder it would be though if no one had gone to be with her.
He did the right thing however hard that was to do. I hope it brings him peace to know that he was able to give something back to her as his final farewell.

Janet,

I know it's going to be hard on Rick and Ricky and you. Just don't forget how short life really is. No one really knows when our time is up here. Just live every day to the fullest. Let the ones you love know. I noticed after my mom and Gary's dad died last year how Gary and I became even closer because we never know when it's going to be our time. Your in my prayers.

Oh, Janet, I'm so sorry:( I know this has to be a terrible time for your family. I pray that all of you will find comfort in the loving memories you have of her. I pray especially for your husband that he can find peace in what has happened.

Janet, I too am very sad for you and your family. It is soooo hard losing our parents. You and your family are in my prayers. I wasn't with my mother when she passed, I had left for a while and have always felt bad that I was not there with her. It would have been very hard, but I think it's better to be there than not. Hope your hubby realized this. We all love you!!

Thanks every one of you, my friends. Today we are going to clean out the nursing home of Vivian's things. It's not going to be easy, but neither are the next couple of days. We'll get through.....it's what this family does best...hold each other up and get through it together. Thank you all again, for your thoughts, prayers and well wishes.
