Sure wish I had all the information back from the banks...etc so I can finish doing the taxes. I wish all the information had to be out by the 2 week of January. I am working on my son's taxes now (I did them last year)....just use the EZ forms, no problem.

This year I'm doing ours using Turbo Tax Deluxe. We paid to have ours done last year, but I also bought the Turbo Tax, just to compare. If I hadn't had to pay $175 to have our taxes done it would have been the same. So no more Tax preparere man....I'll do it myself.

Any of you do your own taxes?

we've been doing turbo tax for 4 years now. It's so easy. Plus we get ours at Staples and they always have rebates that it ends up paying for its self.

I don't do taxes. My hubby does them. He had one of our daughters helping him at the office with it. Actually what he does is get everything together and take it to an accountant. He has his own business, so ours are pretty complicated. He has to do lots of 1099's for contractors which he does himself or has our daughter do. He brings home the papers and tells me where to sign.:D

I told him when we married that I never wanted to mow the lawn or do income tax. Have mowed a few times, but never did the taxes. We share the bill paying.

If anything happens to him, I'll just have to get with the accountant or something, because this is something I have absolutely no desire to ever learn.

With my husband being a farmer we let someone who is more experienced figure our taxes. There are so many things you have to keep up on when you own your own business or are in business for yourself. It's not cheap for us to have someone else do it, but it sure is better on our nerves!!!

Our taxes are pretty simple and Turbo Tax walks me right through it all...really easy. Now if we had a business, that would be a whole other ballgame, I think. An accountant would probably do a whole lot better. We only have the one rental house and Turbo Tax covers that too. For my son, I just use the EZ forms for him, because he gets everything back. Those are soooo easy!

Not being nosy, but do youngsters get much back for filing? Our accountant told my husband that our daughters don't make enought to worry about filing. They would only get a few dollars back, and the government does not care if you don't file if they owe you money, so he recommended just not bothering. I've wondered how much they need to make to pay in enought to make it worth while. We may need to ask the accountant again.

You're not being nosey at all!! I'm not real sure how much Rick will get back this year. Last year he was 15 and got everything he paid in back. Now that he is 16 I will have to check. I think it's the same until he is 18 years old. Here's the web-site for any questions... www.irs.gov

Thank you, we will definitely check into it.

I've done my own taxes for at least the past 25 years. I do my Moms and my kids taxes as well. The past few years I've used Turbo Tax, but when we had our business I did them the old fashioned way. I had a friend who's an accountant and does taxes professionally for back up though. Any time I hit an issue I'm not sure of I just gave her a call.

Now that our kids are grown and we end up having to pay in every year, I'm not nearly as eager to get them done. LOL

I'm ready to get ours and my son's done and in the mail. I just need to wait for the banks..etc. to send us their information. Wish they could send them out sooner.
