Hi Ladies! I don't know if this is the right place for this but, I think it's going to be entertaining! Especially if I do it right! LOL

I am tie dying for the first time in many, many years! Kinda bringing back my teenage days!! (in the 70's!) Anyway...my question is this............

I am tie dying over a very light blue knit fabric. I picked up Pink and Purple Rit Dye. I went on line and it said to dye the lightest color...(untie the elastics), re-tie and die the next light color...well, purple is darker than pink and if I dye the pink (or purple) first isn't the other color I use going to cover the color I just used? I hope I explained the right...

Thanks Girls!

Gosh, I have never tie-dyed in my life but it sure sounds fun! I wish I had an answer for you but I have not a clue, sorry.

Make sure you post a picture of your tie-dye when completed. I bet it will turn out beautiful! ;)

I sure do hope it comes out the way I want! But, something tells me it isn't! LOL

I bought some ribbing to go around the legs of the furbabies jammies...They only had a very light blue and I have furGIRLS! I am also going to make them some running suits out of sweatshirt material...so having a different color for the bands is going to look fine...I just hope it comes out like I want it too!

I will post pics of the fabric when I am done.

Please post the pictures when your done. I have never tie dyed ever, but always wanted to try. Now I don't know what I would tie dye at my age...LOL If I did decide to try....not only would I need step by step directions, I would need step by step pictures.....LOLOL:D

I would try the pink first. Depending on the concentrations you might get some pink & some purple (due to the blue fabric) just using the pink. If it's not purple enough add some purple sparingly after the pink has dried.

Well, I did it! They didn't come out exactly like I wanted but, I guess this is the neat thing about tie dye...You really never know what you are going to get! I tie dyed ribbing(fabric that goes around cuffs of jammies or shirts~for the furbabies!) It only tie dyed one side of it (because it comes in a tube shape) Now I'm going to have to go buy more dye to dye the other side!! LOL! O well! Do and learn! The fabric is drying right now...I will post pics when it's dry!

I've never tie-dyed either, so I'm no help. My girls did it at camp. Maybe Melissa will post something here.

I have never done this before. I hope it turns out well. I would get the dye all over the place if I tried it. It does sound like fun tho. Be sure and post pictures.

I posted pics in the picture section.

For the first time doing it in many, many years I don't think they came out too bad! If I don't say so myself...I know next time I will try to make the design smaller..especially where I am using it on the furbabies clothes.
