I'm in the process of doing our taxes and have to keep stopping to look stuff up. If I'm entering things right, it looks like our refund is going to be a real joke. I don't know how others get thousands of dollars back and we're lucky if we get $100 some years. We do long form so now I have to go to Wal Mart and get our prescriptin information. I tried doing it over the internet, but their site is giving me fits. So I'll save myself that much aggrevation and let the store give me the information.
My son is happy that I got his done and he will get some nice 'gas' money back.
I sure hope the final result of ours will be better than it's looking to be.

i know what you mean.. Since hubby and I do not have kids we pay every year.... it really blows!
When we had 3 kids to claim and large business deductions, we got back nice big refunds. Now that the kids are grown and we pay very little real estate interest, we've had to pay IN each year.
Both hubby and I claim zero single all year and still we get beat. This year might be a bit better just beacuse he was laid up for 5 months and they don't tax workmens comp income. I just haven't taken the time to sit down and do the taxes yet, so am still hopeful. LOL

I don't make very much being a bus driver but saw where they only took $8.02 out in Federal. I thought that seemed so little, so I called and they said that was right. That you have to make so much before Federal will take taxes. Shocked me....LOL Anyway, I also found out I have 1 exemption taken out in Federal and State. I don't think I should be doing that. I need to talk with hubby and see what he says. If I do change it to '0', then they will take out more and my paycheck will be less. Soooo.......decisions....decisions....!!!

Janet - Yes indeed!! Taxes are NOT our friend! I hate to even think about it, ugh. We pay quarterly and STILL end up paying more at tax time. It's very disturbing and I could go on and on all day about taxes but I wont. I want to remain in the good mood that I woke up in. :D

Janet! want to hear something funny!! Last year we owed the state $13.00 and got back $38 from the feds...so...your $100.00 sounds good to me!
My brother gets back like $3000.00. of course he has 2 children under 18 that are still in school and he puts in alot but, DAMN! I could re-do a couple of rooms with that!...Heck! I could re-do ALL my rooms with that...(I am a bargain shopper and usually don't pay full price...I wait for sales and I'm pretty crafty).
