I swear if I didn't know any better I would swear the plague has hit our house!! Last week my daughter was exposed to Chicken Pox!!! After being exposedand not knowing it.. She got Strep throat, and ear infection, pink eye, AND a nasty cold on top of it. She finally got over that and then the damn chicken pox finally came out day before yesterday!!!!

Now my husband is sick. He has a bad sinus infection that could have been avoided had he just gone to the damn doctor. There is nothing worse that a sick husband. He is cranky when he gets sick and it drives me crazy!

On top of it all I have another cold! We have not been out of the house all week. I ahve been out to take her and my hubby to the doc and pick up meds. other than that nothing. Cabin Fever is really starting to set in!! Everything including the dogs are getting on my nerves!

Enough ranting.. I just hope everyone else stays healthy!:o

I too am so ready for spring, words can't even describe! I hate this "cabin fever" feeling and being slapped w/ cold harsh freezing winds when I do head outside.

I am happy to say that none of the winter flu or colds have hit us yet. Not sure how we keep escaping it??

I hope everyone in your home Michelle feels better soon and doesn't forget that spring w/ warmer temps are just around the corner!!

Regarding your daughter having chicken pox brings back memories of my oldest son getting them when he was little. I was bed ridden w/ having Mono and strep throat myself and taking care of him being ill while I was ill was absolutley horrible. I literaly had to "crawl" to tend to him because I was too weak to stand on my own. Looking back I wonder how I ever managed.

Best healthy well wishes to all.

Seems like everyone is getting sick. All three of us went through the bad sinus and head cold. Thank goodness it didn't go down into our chests. I keep telling myself it is going to get better weather wise. I just wish it would hurry!!!!:)

Thanks Rivermom! I just found out yesterday that 3 more girls on the cheer squad also came down with the chicken pox! I am just thankful that she is getting them now and not later on in life. I hear they can be really hard on adults.I tell ya I think as moms we handle more than our fair share. It is all part of being of mom I guess. LOL I wish spring would hurry up and get here too! I have had enough of the cold!

Aw Emms, I'm sorry you've all been sick!
I know it gets real old. I too am more than ready for spring and we've been really lucky not to be sick much. I figured working in a bank witht he public and all that dirty money that I'd probably pick up a lot of stuff, but so far so good!

I hope emily is over the sick and itchiest part by now and at least feels better.

Hugs

Thanks guys!

I am just curious... How many of you kept your kids home when they had chicken pox? I am sooo mad right now I could scream!

They had a competition to go to this weekend. Well 4 of the girls on the squad have the pox so they decided to cancel it. I think that it was the right thing to do myself. One of the 4 girls happens to be the daughter of the coach! They coach jokes it all off and says soak them in hot water and it will bring out all of the pox so they can scab over. Then we can cover them with makeup! I was shocked to say the least! This was all coming from a coach who also happens to be a NURSE! Her daughter broke out with the rash on Thursday.. THe same day that Emmie did. I say she should be at home because she is still contagious! There is no way that all of her bumps have scabbed over. She only broke out on Thursday. I know that they are the most contagious the days right before they break out but she can still spread it.

Well to my surprise  I found out she was at the gym yesterday! I know that if I was a mom and found out she had chicken pox and was still contagious I would have been ticked! I also heard that because Emmie is homeschooled and not exposed to kids at school that this is the reason she has so many of them! Yeah right ok. She is at the gym6 to 8 hours a week with at least 20 girls on a regular basis. Not to mention all of the other kids that are there for other classes! I just don't understand it...

Am I just way to protective? I was told by my doctor that this has the potential to be a dangerous illness. It can lead to pneumonia! Emmie has been down that road before. She was in the intensive care unit for week!

I guess I Just wish that they were more concerned for the kids (as well as the other adults) at the gym instead of worrying so much about the competition!

You are not over protective. The kids should be at home and not making others sick. Some can get complications from Chicken Pox. Very irresponsible of this coach. I would be doing some complaining myself.

I agree, it's very irresponsible of the coach. There are adults out there who have never had the ChickenPox. What if one of them is exposed. Some people!!!!

All my kids stayed home for weeks actually when they had the pox. Two of them were not even in school yet though.

I am just never amused that others send their kids to school contagious w/ lots of stuff. Adults do the same thing, sit in an office hacking all over others. GROSS

I understand sometimes that adults go to work contagious because they cannot afford to take off or their superiors would frown upon too much time off. It's a shame that society is "forced" at times to work under ill conditions. It feels we don't have choices at times being dictated by others.

The health of ourselves and others should be a priority - somewhere that priority has been lost by some.

Doesn't make sense to me at times.

I couldn't agree with you more. Emmie's tumble coach has a blood disorder. The last thing she needs is Chicken Pox!

At our gym the kids can join as many team as they can handle. We have different dance teams and also different cheer teams. Here is my daughter in an old uniform at a competition.

So the comp for our squad was cancelled because of the Chicken Pox outbreak. The coach didn't take her daughter to the cheer comp on Sunday but let her go to her dance comp on Sat. I just don't understand it at all. Can you imagine how many grandparents and pregnant women she may have infected. I told my husband that if I was a preg mom at the gym and found out the she was at the gym and was contagious you can bet I would be suing! I would own that place. Chicken Pox is nothing to play with. The whole thing is just sad if you ask me.
