So my glasses/contacts prescription has been the same for the past two years, making me more than eligible for laser eye surgery. I talked with my optometrist when I had my last exam and he thinks I'd be a great candidate and even gave me a highly recommended surgeon to call. I've wanted to do this for such a long time, but I'm scared to death, too. This summer would be the perfect time to have it done since I won't have school and it'll give me time to heal, but should I?? I'll also have to plan it around our trip to Mexico, but I think it could work.
Has anyone had this surgery and do you recommend it??

I personally don't wear glasses or contacts, but i do know of people including my dad that have had it done, and they are thrilled with it.
It's a very scary thing to have done, and i for sure understand the worry. Good luck on your decision, and keep us posted. ;)

I only wear glasses once in awhile (when I remember to put them on) while I am on the pc. Never had contacts.
I've heard that the laser surgery is a great thing for people who have it done. If you are clearly a perfect candiate for the surgery I see no reason why you shouldn't have it done. What are the pro's/con's to this type of surgery?

My Mom had it done when she was having something else done to her eyes. She had it done at 82 (84 now) and doesn't have to wear her glasses (only to read) after wearing glasses her entire life. She loves it.
I would love to have it done, but I'm a big chicken. If they could put me out, fine, I'd do it, but they are not doing it while I'm awake. I saw it done on one of the health channels and there isn't no way while I'm awake.

My daughter-in-law had it done and is very happy with it. I would love to have it done because my eyesight is very bad!

I've been wearing glasses since i was in 4th grade (i'm going to be 22 now).. and i just got it done in january.
It is by far the BEST thing i have ever done for myself!!
for awhile i couldn't wear contact lenses because no matter what brand, or how many eyedrops i used, it always made my eyes super red and it was bad..
but i got LASIK done and don't regret it at all.. i can now see without them perfectly..
and also, i can ejoy my daughter without worrying about poking her eyes or face with my glasses :D
it took meonly 2 days to heal, so i think it's perfect for you to do! and summer is right around the corner!

Wow, that's great! I'm glad you had such a good experience with it. How long was your recovery time? Was the surgery scary or painful?? (DianaB, how was your daughter's experience?) I've talked myself out of calling the surgeon yet 'cause I'm a wuss. LOL!
Thank you so much for all of the information ladies!!!

I had LASIK surgery about 5 years ago and I have zero regrets. I used to wear contacts and I was never good with keeping them clean and I would constantly fall asleep with them on. My vision is now 20/15, better than 20/20 and I no longer have headaches from straining to see. It was a painless procedure which lasted about 20 minutes. I had to wear goggles to bed to prevent me from rubbing my eyes at night and no eye makeup for one week. I would definitely recommend it!

Was it really painless? Wow! That's good to know. It seems that I'll have to put the surgery off for a while cause hubby and I just bought a house, but I want to get it done at the first opportunity. Thanks for letting me know how it went for you!
