My hubby and I are apply for passports today. Anyone know how long the process takes?? We have everything we need (Photo ID and all required paperwork already filled out). I just need to know when we will get our actual passports so I can plan when we leave. Thanks!

That's about what I had expected. Thanks!

We are going to Mexico this summer. We're going to be translators for a mission group going to a very poor town called El Rosario. BUT...before that we are going to visit our friends Daniel and Yakko in Puebla, which is a much nicer part of Mexico. We'll get to be "tourists" and really enjoy ourselves. We aren't sure how long we are staying yet, but we are hoping it'll be for a couple of weeks before we leave for El Rosario. It'll be my first trip outside the country, so I'm super excited!!

And I also have an inquiring mind...where did you go?? :)

Your trip sounds wonderful!! Don't forget to take a lot of pics and please do share them with us here. :p Do you enjoy Mexican foods? It's one of my top favorites, I could eat true Mexican food everyday!! LOL ~ infact, on this diet of mine I have to pick 7 dinners, etc. Well 5 of the 7 days I picked their Chicken Fajhitas. Told ya I enjoy Mexican.

Just think too about all the souiveners you can get. Pretty colored pots, art, jewerly, etc. Ooohhhh I love to shop on foreign land.

My hubby and I first went to Jamaica for 11 days. Had a total blast!!

Then the following year I think it was we went to Puerta Vallarta. We stayed in a home that a member from YT rents out. It was a perfect vacation!! Didn't want to return home. :)

Enjoy your trip, it's a chance of a lifetime!

I rarely do anything that I don't take pics of. LOL! I will definitely share my favorites with all of you when I come back...though I'm not going till the summer, so you'll have to wait. :)

Yes, I love Mexican food as long as it isn't too spicy. Spicy is not my thing. Chicken Fajitas sound great, but I don't know if I could eat them for 5 out of 7 dinners. LOL. But hey, if you can lose weight eating something you really enjoy, then go for it!!

Oh, and I can't WAIT to go shopping there...I'm so frugal and I just can't wait to buy beautiful things at such good prices (though I'll probably not bargain at all since they need the money more than I do). But I get so excited thinking of all the lovely things I'll be able to come back with.

I've always wanted to go to Jamaica. Is that where you went on your honeymoon? Sounds like the perfect vacation to me!

Where is Puerta Vallarta? Sounds like a nice place.

LOL - With eating so many vegie's that taste sooo bland to me the spicy fajita's is such a welcomed treat. Plus I'm a freak having to have carbs and the 2 tortilla's fills my belly up. :D

We went to Jamaica not on a honeymoon, but a vacation w/ a couple friend we have. The resort is called "couples swept away". Someday we want to return.

Puerta Vallarta, in Mexico's West Coast. We went in December when it was cold here in Arkansas. The temps there were in the 80's and oh so perfect. The people were really nice and talk about buying silver for cheap. My goodness!!!

And the food was delicious too! :p

Summer will be here before you know it and you are smart working at getting your passport now. It's always so fun to having something to look forward to. I wish we were doing a get away vacation this year but I doubt we will. :(

Oh, I just LOVE veggies!! I could live off of fruits and veggies, I think...as long as I could have some chocolate every once in a while. lol

There is SO much silver in Mexico it's worth practically nothing there. Better for us, though! :) I think I'll pick up some extra stuff while I'm there just in case the Gift Exchange gets up and going. That would be fun!

Sheryl is correct about the timing. It takes at least 6 to 8 weeks unless you pay extra to get them to rush it. Now that they are requiring passports to go to Mexico and Canada, the passport offices are supposed to be overwhelmed. Best to get it way ahead of time.

While in Mexico, you may want to consider visiting the pharmacy. You can get antibiotics and Retina really cheap. 100 capsules of Amoxicillin costs about $8.00. We always stock up when we go there. Retin-A is about $12.00 a tube.

Hope you have a wonderful trip. Our daughter, Melissa, is going to the Katrina ravaged part of Mississippi over spring break on a mission trip. They leave tomorrow morning.

Thanks for the pharmacy tip. I'll definitely have to look into that.

Wow! I hope your daughter has a wonderful experience in Mississippi. That will be tough.
