We all have some God-given talent that makes us feel good and stand out in some way.
What is yours? Do you have more than one?
How often do you get to enjoy it?

Hmmm....let's see.....can't carry a tune in a bucket so that rules out singing. Can't grow a garden because of these black thumbs of mine so that's out although I have managed to get 2 boys to grow...lol! Can't sew except maybe a button back on a shirt but even that's rare and most time DH does it. I'll have to think on this some more.
I sing. I used to sing in contests, at weddings and funerals, etc. I was in different choirs, and won ribbons in high school at both district and state levels.
I write short stories. I love having a day to myself where I can just sit and write. I used to do short fluff pieces for a local newspaper, too.
Nothing that will ever make me famous, but good enough for local notice.
So c'mon ladies! I know you all have talents. Dont be shy... God wants you to enjoy and celebrate them!

I dont know  I cant sing or play an instrument if my life depended on it, i have heard people say "you got talent" but cant remember the reason why they did LOL
I do enjoy sewing, but have to be in the mood, i like to mix different fabrics, and work with colors, ribbons, and all the pretty stuff.
And Sheryl, you dont know? Let me help you here, now what about those amazing cards you make ;)

Oh I forgot about the cards Mandy. LOL. Trust me, if you looked in books those people creating those cards are the one's w/ the talents. I HAVE to use their books for ideas and inspiration. It just doesn't "come" to me if you will.
But thanks. :p

Even by getting the ideas from books, you still hand make them, so there, to me thats talent :D

I can sing. I sing solos at church quite often. In fact, our pastor's wife asked me to sing for the Easter Sunrise Service, but I'm not sure because you have to get up VERY early to be there. I know that there's better singers than me, but I still love to sing and I don't mind getting up in front of people to do it.
I'm a pretty good cook when I try. I'm fairly creative. In fact, I have curtains that I'm going to make soon. I'll post a picture of them when I get them done. I'm also a good hostess and we often have groups from church over to the house.
We all have so many talents we just don't recognize them as talents. I have a daughter who is soooo creative. She just amazes me at what she can do. She's a great cook and a wonderful Mom. As I said, she amazes me!!!
You shouldn't have to dig too deep to think of something! Come on girls!!!!

This is a hard one. I think my talent is being able to visualize. I mean, I see something in my head and can half way draw it out and make it. I made my son a stool when he was little so he could brush his teeth. It had a back to it and when you pulled the back forward to the floor, it made two steps. So in reality he had a little chair and a two-step stool. I love to do woodworking and can think of my own designs.
I also like to sing, my family likes it so I guess I'm not too bad and I like to sew clothes for the doggies.

This is a tough one. I'm good at most kinds of hand work, sewing, crochet, knitting, embroidery. Don't have time to do it. Once in a while, I will crochet a pot holder for a friend when I travel for business or something. I'm pretty good at creative things like putting together flyers to advertize events and such, being a bit of a perfectionist at things like this. I know how to plan things and make them happen. We plan trips for youth groups and such. I think I would be a good travel agent or event planner. Would be more fun than selling valves to chemical plants, but have to do what makes the most money for my family.
Would love to be a good singer, but have a node on one of my vocal cords that gives me a unique voice that is not too good for singing. I've thought of having it removed, but my family is accustomed to it and they don't want me to change. The doctor says they would not recognize my voice if I had surgery. Saw Julie Andrews in an interview on TV once. She had a node removed and now she sounds worse than before.

I play piano and violin. I also love to write and cook. Oh, and I can make straight A's, lol, does that count??
Other than that, I feel pretty normal. Nothing special.

I can play the piano. And I think I'm pretty charismatic. Hubby always makes me interact wtih people on a business level bc he says I'm good at it. And I guess I can cook when I actually try. I love to cook, but HATE going to the grocery store and cleaning up the kitchen, so I don't do it often.

Well ..hmmm... I used to work as a telemarketer (not the bill collector kind but the kind who sold vacations at discounts to people who traveled with the company before). My boss used to say I could sell icecubes to eskimos, but it was really that I am a people person. I made people like me & see they needed a vacation so it was hard for them to say no to me.
I also love being creative. I have made scrapbooks. (I did one for angie for her anniversary & I'm pretty sure she liked it). I love throwing themed birthday parties & am quite good at doing so. My last big one was a luau for my oldest daughter's B-day. My next project is a party with woodland theme & fairies for my baby girl who is turning 2 April 3rd. Hubby thinks I spend too much money for them, but my babies are only little once & I don't want to look back & I think "I could have but didn't"

(Big Sigh) I wish that I had a sister.
I wish I had a sister I could be that close with!
My one and only sister is so extremely different from me that I have refused to talk to her for many years. She's everything I try not to be. It's sad really. I wish it were different, but don't expect it will ever change. :(

:D I'm just glad you liked it. It was hard thinking of an idea for you guys but once I started on it (it was my first scrapbook), I became addicted. I love doing them. Guess I should thank you for inspiring me to try something & finding out I love it

I know I'm not in the situation & am not quite sure what you mean by "different" & "everything I try not to be" but Ang & I are quite different as well. She's a straight A student who went straight for highschool to college still with straight A's. I was kicked out of highschool in 11th grade, Had my kids then tried going back (3 times so far, but something has happened each time to mess it up. Maybe 4th time is a charm?). She & I both married young but atleast she married the right man the first time :D . Took me twice to get it right.
Maybe since you haven't spoke to her "for many years" things have changed & you can start fresh? If not, Ang & I have a big family. We have room for a few more sisters

Oh and Tink and DianaB, you are more than welcome to be our adopted sisters! :) The more the merrier...that's how it seems to go in our family, lol! Anyone else is welcome to join our sisterhood as well. hehe! :ghug:
And in response to Traci's "we're different" post...it was kind of one-sided. She made me look way too good and her way too bad. LOL. Actually, I've always wished I was more like her because she's much more willing to take risks and I'm usually too scared or intimidated to do new things. At least I'm getting better now that I have a very adventurous, risk-taking husband. :) Also, she's a lot smarter than she gives herself credit for. The only reason she didn't make straight A's was because she was interested in other things, not because she couldn't do it. So there, that's my side. LOL!

I lost my sister to cancer in 1980. She died 3 days before her 40th birthday. She was 14 years older than I. When she died, I was 25 and we were just getting to know each other as adults. Her life was so different than mine. She was pregnant at 15, and married a different guy a couple years later. He ended up being an alcoholic and she was never able to have anything, but she stuck through it all. I still miss her.
I do have 5 sisters-in-law, but there are only two that are worth the time, one more than the other. At least she and I are pretty close.

Oh Janet, I'm so sorry about your sister. I can't even imagine how hard that must've been for you and your family.
That's great that now you at least have one person you can be close to in a "sisterly" kind of way. Some people don't even have that. *hugs*

I'm very sorry as well Janet. I guess some of us forget how lucky we are to still having siblings to "fight with". I definetly understand how hard her life must have been. I, too, had my first child at 15 & married someone else at 17. Althought he was the alcoholic (& drug user). I tried it but never really "got into it". I'm 29 now with 4 kids & still struggling to make it. I'm sure you must get alittle peace from knowing she isn't struggling anymore & her spirit remains with you always.:)

Yes, I think of my sister quite often. She never had anything to speak of. She worked, her husband stayed home and drank. He was never abusive or anything like that, just a lazy alcoholic.
I do have two brothers, one is eight years older and the best there is and one that is 3 years younger and well, let's just say he's spoiled and a pain to be around.

LOL what a wonderful bunch of talented ladies!
You know the one talent you ALL share and no one even mentioned is your talent for loving and sharing with your friends. I've been on several different boards over the years and I can seriously tell you not one has been as peaceful and supportive and upbeat as this one is. Usually there are one or more members who just leave a sour taste in my mouth and take some of the fun out of it.
I think you're all a hand-picked bunch of winners.
