Oh my goodness! Today I went to school like usual...and decided to check my campus mailbox since I had time to kill between classes. I had a letter from financial aid so I went to their office to see what it was all about. It turns out they have been underpaying both me and my husband for the past two semesters and they wanted to give all of the money we were supposed have received back to us now. I was COMPLETELY shocked when they said it would be $4,750 for me and $4,241 for Brendon...THAT'S $8,991!!! :omg: I feel like I just received that huge Publisher Clearing House check with all of the balloons and cameras. LoL! They say it will be deposited into our bank account tomorrow. That really made my day. Just wanted to share my good news with everyone. I think I'm still in shock!

WOW! CONGRATS!! So what are your plans?

Well my first thought was a money market account or a roth IRA since we don't need the money now and we want to buy a house shortly after graduation...but then I realized that we wouldn't get any financial aid for the rest of the time we're in college if the government knew that we had put it into an account rather than using it (it would count as "income"). So instead, I think we are going to pay off rent for a year or half a year so I don't have to deal with it. Maybe the landlords will give a discount for paying that far in advance, lol! Also, after hubby's surgery, it may pay for our little girl yorkie we've been waiting for so we don't have to use our savings. :)

I know, I'm so boring! lol! But owning my own home is a HUGE dream of mine and I want to get there as quickly as possible, so to me, it's all very exciting.

You girls are probably thinking I should just go to the spa instead! :D

Lol! Actually, it's looking like we may buy a house. We're going to look at it tomorrow and the landlord (who is also a real estate agent) is going to run some numbers for us and look into grants to see if maybe we can do it. I'm super excited!!!
