Hi Administation!! Some of us have been noticing the new members here of late. They sign on one time, they are welcomed and we never hear from them again. That part is okay, I guess, but then they use some pretty far out user names too. I've already warned everyone not to click on any links they may post 'just in case.'

Since you're probably more use to this kind of thing, do you have any other advice? Are some of these new ones scammers or something else?

Thanks in advance :)

I've noticed the unusual "usernames" also. Honestly, I think it's spam more than likely. That's just a guess though. ;)

I guess I just don't understand how spam works with forums. Why would they go through everything to sign up? For what? So far there hasn't been any links posted by them, but there has been on YT. Could someone explain this to me???

Some of them are unfortunately just spam bots that want to advertise or want your email address. You can usually tell if they don't make any sense or don't post at all...

Hopefully its just A "slump" we have hit & it will be over now. If we KNOW a "member" to be a bot or spammer is there member status removed?

That's a good question Traci. If they don't post anything (their count stays at 0 )within a certain amount of time...maybe they should be deleted.

That's good to know!! I thought that if we put our email address in our profile, everyone could see it.
