My mom wants to know what something is called & for the life of me I can't remember.

Do you remember when you were school & you make this thing out of paper that had numbers on it & you would open & close it based on the number you picked & then open it & it would say something inside. I can't remember. I'm gonna try & see if I can remember how to make.

Thanks in advance.

I know what it is that you're talking about, but I don't know the name either. You have to start out with a square piece of paper. Then I think that you fold the corners into the center. Then I think that you turn it over and fold the points into the center again. Then bring the points together and put your fingers in the flaps on the back side. I suppose that I made that as clear as mud!!! Oh my!!!!

I know exactly what you are talking about, but I don't think I ever knew a name for it. I used to LOVE making those when I was in elementary school. :)

I just took one away from a young man on my bus last week. They get to loud and well, it's considered a game and games are not allowed. Those 'fortune teller' things surface every year. The reason I don't like them on the bus is the kids get loud...they argue over what it says and so on. So they are not allowed to have them. They have been around quite awhile...we had them when I was in elementary school. Some things just never go away....

This is what I thought too. So I searched fortune teller & did find a website that told you how to make them & called my mom back. The kid asking about it is only like 6 years old, I don't remember playing with them until I was in middle school, but oh well. The kid is pretty spoiled, he is the son of my mom's horse show friend & he had saw one at school & wanted his mom to make to make him one, but they didn't know how, so they called my mom, who called me. If I was his mom, I would of said tomorrow at school why don't you make friends with the kid that has it & ask him to show you how.

Here's the site I found incase you now all wanna make your own.

I will have to say that I DO have a pretty good memory. Besides, it wasn't too long ago that I was playing with one of those!

I used to love those things too. I used to write all over them with colored pens and markers and write funny fortunes, etc. A

fter I learned how to do that, I became the origami queen. My mom took me to the library and we checked out books on origami and I learned how to fold paper into all sorts of funny shapes and animals. I can still do some of them...but I know I've forgotten a lot of fun things I used to make all the time.

I used to even fold "notes" to friends and every time I'd pass a note in class (or between classes) it would be shaped into something new and different.

You'd love my day to day calendar. It's an origami one, you use the page before to make the figure on the next day. It's very cool. I get to make something new every morning.
