My husband started taking the prescription pill CHANTIX to help him quit smoking. He is doing great so far. He's only been taking it for 3 days and he is smoking about half of what he normally did (which was almost two packs a day). He can't believe it either. He just does not have the desire as much as he did.

He started by taking one white pill a day for 3 days. From the 4th day to the 7th he'll take two white pills a day. Starting on the 8th day and until the end of the 12weeks, he'll take two blue pills a day. By then he should be done with smoking. Our family doctor, his back doctor and our pharmicist say it is getting rave reviews from the medical field.

If you want to know more about this, check out their web-site: www.chantix.com

We are lucky our insurance helps...it costs like $116.00 but we only had to pay $30.00.

Check it out!!!

Wow Janet! That's amazing! Maybe this information will help others on the forum who are trying to quit as well. Good luck to your hubby!

That's wonderful! Quitting is such a hard thing to do....I know, b/c I used to smoke. I was never a super-heavy smoker, but I smoked all thru college and quit right before I got married. It wasn't easy but I'm SOOOOOOO GLAD I did. Now, I'm quite disgusted at myself that I ever did smoke.

My husband's grandfather has basically smoked "all" of his life (since his twenties), and this past Thanksgiving, decided to give it up - he's 80 years old and said he wanted to quit "cold turkey" on turkey day, lol!

He surely did quit, and he sends us email updates from a site he signed up with saying how many cigarettes he hasn't smoked, how much money he's saved, and how many days he's "added" onto his life. It's really neat - and it's super cute b/c he's so proud of himself!
