I've got shingles! No, not the kind you put on your roof... the kind that come from having had chicken pox as a child that make an ugly rash on your skin on localized areas. A Rassenfrassen viral assault!

I can't help but think it's just another sign of my age. Hrumph grumble sigh...

Oh NO! I'm so sorry. :( I know that's one of the most miserable things ever. My mom has had shingles two times in the past few years and it breaks my heart to see her so uncomfortable. I hope you get better soon!!! I'll be praying!

Oh Tink, you poor thing!! Are you doing okay? My mother had shingles and it was so very painful for her. I do hope you're not in much pain. I can't remember with my mother right now, but how long does it usually last? Been to the Dr.?

Oh, Tink, hope you don't have them very bad. Lots of my friends have had shingles, but I did not have the chicken pox until a couple of years ago, and then they weren't sure it was chicken pox, but some kind of similiar pox. I had a very mild case.

What a mess!! Will be thinking of you and hoping you are better very, very soon.

Thanks all.
I'm more itchy than in pain. I had my gallbladder out the old fashioned way with the huge incision nearly 30 yrs ago, during which time nerves were cut that never reconnected. Ironically, it's in this same area that my shingles are. I have an area just above the scar that's never had a return of full sensation, so I guess this time I lucked out because the skin doesn't really hurt like one might expect it to.

Weird huh? LOL

I have a friend from church that has shingles really bad. The doctor said that it's the worst case that he's ever seen. She's been really miserable with it.

Having Shingles doesn't mean you're old! My boyfriend got shingles when he was 12. I hope you get well and feel better very soon!!!

Thanks Lissa! I needed that today. Everyone keeps telling me about people in their 70's and up who has/had them... I was thinking maybe it was time to look into long-term care insurance for myself! ;)

I've got a few more bumps popping out today. I had hoped what I got before was "it" but I guess I'm not gonna get off quite that easy. Oh well, it could be much worse, so now that I'm not feeling ancient to boot, I think I'll do just fine. :D

Tink, a lot of people at my church went through the shingles lately and none of them were very old. Just not very happy after they got them.

My aunt just had it, but because she went to the doctor right away, she was told that it wasn't going to cause her too much trouble and would go away quickly.
The earlier the medical intervention, the better. Hers was not troublesome within a week.

I hope yours goes as easy. You got lucky that the nerves never regenerated in that spot! Life is strange sometimes.

Feel better soon,

Judy

Thanks for thinking of me.

I'm doing ok. I overdid it yesterday with all the painting, so today I've just focussed on laundry and resting again. I'm sore around my rib cage, so figure it's related to the shingles. Hopefully tomorrow I will be up to finishing the painting.

I feel for you...anyone I know who's had to deal with this has been miserable with it.

How are you doing?

Don't overdo it Tink. We don't want you down and in bed because of pain.

I know how bad you were wanting another job, but aren't you glad now you don't have to worry about shingles and making it through a work day? Everything happens for a reason...

Tink

Janet, you're right as usual.

I'd been kinda pleased with myself that I didn't seem to have all the complications so many get with shingles. I was running around doing business as usual, till today.

I got a call saying hubby will be home this evening, so decided I had to go get groceries etc before he gets here. While shopping my ribs started to ache and my shoulders started to feel heavy, and all I wanted to do was cut it short and go home. Luckily I got Joel and Shannon to carry in the stuff from the car, but I now feel like I've been KO'd.

I'm very glad I'm not at work trying to make it through the day like this. I got the stuff that goes in the refrig and freezer put away, but the rest is still sitting in bags. I'm hoping if I just take it easy for a while I'll feel better again. So here I sit waiting to feel better.

Tink, you just take care of yourself. Have the kids put away the rest of the groceries and take a long rest. Wish that I was there to help out, but distance is a big deterent!

I hope that you are felling better, we used to see this in the military a lot. If I remember right it takes a while for them to go away.
