This site will rank you worldwide based on your annual income.
It's quite eye opening to say the least!

I'm not sure about this Tink. I had me very rich and that's about as far from the truth as it can get.

But think about all the people in Africa, Janet, who have NOTHING! There are millions of people who have nothing to their name. Even if one is poor in this country, they are VERY rich compared to everyone else in this world.

Consider the 2.4 billion people whose mean annual income is less than $1000 year and includes people living in India, Indonesia and rural China. With 42% of the world's population, this group received just 9% of the world PPP income. The other is the group of 500 million people whose income exceeds $11,500. This group includes the US, Japan, Germany, France and the UK. Combined, they account for 13% of the world's population yet garner 45% of the world PPP income. I would hope ALL of us have more than $11,500 a year to live on!

The richest 25% of the world's population receives 75% of the world's income, even when adjusting for Purchasing Power Parity. The poorest 75% of the population share just 25%. This occurs because a large proportion of the world's population lives in the poorest countries, and within the poorest regions of those countries, particularly in the rural areas of China, rural and urban India and Africa.

Just think how spoiled we all look to those who have one outfit... a thatched roof over mud walls, no electricity or phone, no running water, or vehicles. I think sometimes we just need to remind ourselves how good we really have it!

Well slap me with a stupid stick!!!

I didn't think of it in those terms. I, for some stupid reason was just thinking of those world wide that are working and recieving income...not those that were not working and doing without. I have to remember when I do stuff like that to read everything and kind of between the lines. I just didn't get it.

I'm rich...

Maybe that's why it didn't seem to move much for me. I didn't think about that.

Ha...I'm "rich" too. :) And I've seen this kind of site before...and it's good to put us into a global perspective of just how much we DO have and how lucky we are.....and also how much we can make a difference in the lives of those who are truly poor.
