I have heard of brazilian waxing and am clueless as to what exactly they are waxing down there. Is it just the bikini area or the whole shebang- pouty part and all??? i've seen supermodels and centerfolds with all their hair down there gone. has anybody had this done and how painful is it????

I'm all for waxing everything however, this is not something that really prevalent in my area. I had my legs waxed at my salon once thinking i would be smoother & it would last longer. She missed big sections (my leg hair is blond) & it grew back just as quick as shaving if not faster. Plus i had to let it grow out before I could do it. If I could find a good place for a good price I'd let them wax it all.

No No No, don't apologize!!! I can't help peeking anyway. I'm learning so much!! I just can't believe it.
You know you really can tell the difference in the ages. I mostly grew up being taught that I needed to take care of my body and skin...etc. only we did it by trying to eat right and stay out of the sun. But now days, there is something for every square inch of the body inside and out. Totally amazing. Really wish I had some of these choices when I was younger. Not that I'm old by any means. But also coming from a very small town, most of these things were never talked about much less done.

I ALWAYS have a couple of cocktails before I go. It's a very humbling experience... The girl that I go to has a good sense of humor and she laughs at.... I mean WITH me!:D
They have these paper panties that you put on to cover the delicate pouty parts;) , and they do one side at a time. You keep one leg straight... bend it at the knee... and lay it to the side so that the inside of your thigh is exposed. They put on the warm wax... put a cloth on top of the wax... pull the skin on your thigh to make it taut... and RIP!!!! All the hair sticks to the wax on the cloth. They repeat until they get all the hair...
It only hurts for a second, and they have cream to put on and take the sting and redness away. It leaves you really smooth and no rashes or itching when the hair grows back.
I'd love to get my legs done, but letting the hair get long enough to do it is what holds me back.

I don't do the Brazilian... just the garden variety bikini wax...
Sometimes there are a few strays and she'll get those with tweezers. It takes a while for it to grow back. The hard part is letting it get long enough to wax again. No problem in the winter, but I live at the beach and in the summer it can be annoying...

Started getting a brazilian almost ten years ago. My friend went to a little old lady that waxed strippers. First time I went in, I got the whole shebang and never stopped. Unfortunately, she retired and I found a new girl who actually became a friend of mine. Found out that the little old lady was slightly more painful than the new girl. Anyway, I moved to Northern California and have yet to find someone who is reasonably priced.
I got to be honest with you ladies, I love it. The feeling of being bald is nice. It does'nt stay smooth for very long, but the waxing starts to damage the follicle after you have been doing it for a long time. I have a bunch of bald spots where the hair no longer grows. This is great for a girl that has a lot of thick hair all over her body. Thank God I am blond, or I would be a sasquatch.
Anyway. I don't find it all that painful. Sometimes it hurts more than others. I think it has to do with your pain threshhold and where you are in your cycle. I would recommend it to anyone.

I'm just a LITTLE to shy to get a brazilian! My friend gets them and they take off every last hair on your cannoli AND butt!:embarass: But I use a trimmer to keep the hair real short on my landing strip, (thanks for that one Sherry Lynn ;) ) and shave the rest with a razor.
There's nothing worse than seeing a woman in a bathing suit with chia pet growing out of it!

I along with all of my girlfriends get a Brazilian wax either Once a month or every 6 weeks. The first time hurt of course, because the hairs were thick from shaving and some hairs were ingrown...
but after the 3rd and 4th time, the hairs grew back very fine.. and no ingrown hairs at all :) and of course at the perks of being super duper soft :)
and no stubly regrowth.. hmm what else can i add.. it only hurt right above the clitoris and thats about it :) I guess i have high tolerance for pain
but i like to get it waxed then shaving cause it doesn't itch growing back in and i know when i shaved down there my hairs would grow the next day! at least with waxing i get to enjoy my baldness for awhile..
and i only have to go through "pain" for a few minutes :)
when i was pregnant though.. mannnn did i have trouble LOL. i couldn't see anything down there anymore, let alone see my own toes.. im glad that i can see my private parts once again now lol..

Well I REALLY want to get waxed. Beauty hurts, and I am willing to put up with a little bit of hurt to have a weeks worth of "beauty." So, I called around to the salons in my town and they charge $40-$60 for an "extended" wax. Is this the same thing as a "Brazillian"?? Do the effects last long enough for it to be worth that much money?

Where I get my brazilian wax, its only $28 .. and its in a really nice spa/salon.. uses good wax and everything lol..
i think thats a little pricey, but then again, my friend who got hers done payed $60 for a landing strip  lol.. :) but a brazilian wax is definately worth it :) if you can tolerate a few minutes of pain .. it'll give you a month of niceness lol

Technically a brazillian wax involves the complete removal of hair from the buttocks and adjacent to the anus, perineum and vulva (labia majora and mons pubis). Basically, everything from the top of the "lips" down to the butt. Most people will opt for a landing strip in the area above the "lips" or a triangle or nothing at all. Some waxers will do designs.
There are different types of wax that salons may use. Some use the regular "yellow colored wax" that is used in combination with a cloth to remove the hair. Some use this "blue wax" that applies on very warm and thick, cools on your body, and the wax is removed without the use of a cloth. I think the yellow wax does a better job, but that's just me.
The waxing can be very expensive. Around where I am, it can cost anywhere from $30-80 a pop depending on the salon and how much hair you have. I usually get it done once every 8 weeks.
Good waxers will chat and talk to you to make you feel less self conscience, especially if it's your first time. You will have to get into various positions so that the waxer can have you in the best position to wax and remove hair. Some are quite amusing to me. I guess I got over my initial shyness.
Personally, I hate shaving because as the hair grows back, it itches like hell. With a clipper, I'm deathly afraid a piece of hair will snag on the blade. Besides, I just can't bend over fall enough to see what I'm doing. :o I did a brazillian a few years ago and have been doing it ever since.
Hubby once asked me if I'm "used to it now" since I've had it waxed for a while now. My response is... no. It still hurts like hell. But I do like the 'cleaness' of how it feels without the hair, especially during that time of the month. The pain is still there at every session, but it does get easier though. My first session was 45 mins long. Now my waxer can get me in and out the door in about 20 mins. It still stings at the initial ripping, but not as bad.

P.S. - The is all fun 'n games and no offence to President Bush, as I am a big supporter. I just thought this was funny.
Donald Rumsfeld, reporting to the President and his Cabinet, says, "Three Brazilian soldiers were killed today in Iraq."
The President says, "Oh, my God!" and he buries his head in his hands.
The entire Cabinet is stunned. Usually, he shows no reaction whatsoever to these reports. Just then, Bush looks up and says, "How many is a Brazilian??"
