I don't know what to do i woke up today and my eye was swollen at first i thought mabey it was a sty but it is so painful and i can't see anything. it's the inside of the eye and the swelling is putting pressure on my eye which is giving me a migraine. i don't know what to do. i have tried a heat pack abd an ice pack neither seem to be helping does anyone have any suggestions? i been trying to sew all day but it's very hard to do with one eye and a migraine:(

If it's inside the eye, I'd get to a doctor. I had something like that when I was twelve, and every time I blinked it tore my cornea a bit. Needed to wear an eyepatch for awhile.

I'd have it checked out. It could also just be a cold in the eye (seen children with that, they swell up big and quick) which would NOT require a patch.

Either way, don't mess with your vision. find out. JMO

It could also be pink eye, which is contagious.

Amber ...so sorry to hear about your eye ...it sounds painful.....every time I wake up w/ a swollen red mark it always bring back memories of this article I read about spiders crawling on us at night...it saids we all eat about 6-8 spiders in our life time while asleep:eek:

Oh my, I was just getting ready to say the same thing..a spider mite. Sometimes they are just so small you can hardly see them and they get in the bed. Amber you really need to get it checked out. You could also have a torn cornea. You should never wait when it comes to your vision.

I see she logged off awhile ago. I hope she went to get it checked out!

Well, glad your back and that your headache is gone. When I worked in daycare, we did have a little one who's eyelid swelled in a matter of hours...it was the weirdest thing. I believe the Dr. said that his cold had moved into his eye? Could be what your experiencing.

Sounds incredibly uncomfortable.:( :( :(

Amber I hope you're not hurting too bad, that doesn't look good at all. I would really have it looked at in the morning if it doesn't get any better. Have you tried an eye wash, just to make sure there isn't anything under your eyelid?

Okay, here's my first aid training at work. (once a year for 12 years:rolleyes: )

get a clean cup (plastic or paper please, we don't want any accidents)

roll up a towel to create a nice cushion on the edge of your sink.

lay your head on its side so that the bad eye is closest to the basin and the good eye is closest to the ceiling.

use the cup to pour clear, cool (or lukewarm) water over the eye...try to keep the eye open as much as possible.

If there's a foreign object in the eye, this might help.

Oh, and since your in pain, I won't make you hunt::)

Is faucett water a good idea? Ya never know what is in it. I would think a medicated eye wash would be much safer, you can have your husband get that too while he's at the drug store.

I have no idea on the sterilized water...If it's in the original container, I wouldn't think so. But I'm no expert.

Good call posting a new thread about the emergency forum. Silly me, I'm trying to post it in all the individual threads:rolleyes:

Anyway, do what you think is best, I would think some kind of rinse (sterilized water or medicated) might bring some relief.

Hey, I just had a thought. Sometimes when we have medical issues on the weekend we call the pharmacist. They are very knowledgeable and helpful.

What your picture shows, could be a really bad sinus infection. I've had sinus infections before and just got over one where my eyesight was severely impaired.

Amber, your eyesight isn't something to mess with. You need to make an appointment in the morning with an eye doctor. I would take keep some cool compresses on it. That might help with the swelling. I hope that it gets better.

Janet
04-29-2007, 03:55 PM
Amber, sweetie, that eye looks very much in distress, not just your eyelid. Please don't take any chances.

I didn't think about a sinus infection, but it could very well be. Just please know we wouldn't be telling you to get to a Dr. soon if we didn't care so much.

My daughter recently woke up with her eye looking like that too. She went to the clinic and was told she had a zit under her eyelid. They put her on antibiotics and eye drops. It was back to normal in about 3 days.

I hope yours is better very soon too!
