My baby bird Maxima passed away this evening :( im crying so much i can hardly type. We are so heartbroken. She was the most precious thing, her, and i had a special bond, i was teaching her to talk, and she would try to repeat what i said.
Last weekend we noticed her picking on a plant, i remember my son jumped up, and took her away from it. Last thursday we took her to the vet because she didnt look right, she was quiet, and just wanting to sit with me.

When i walked over to her cage, i saw her laying at the bottom, i touched her, and she looked at me, dropped her head, and was gone :(

Mandy, I'm so sorry you lost your beloved bird. I myself am not a bird person at all, in fact I'm afraid of them, but I have friends who feel the same about their birds as I do about my doggies. I wish there was something I could do to help heal your heart. I only know to say I'm sorry for your loss and I will keep you close in thought and prayer.

Thanks Janet, it hurts so bad when you lose something you love so much. :( Im just thankful i was there with her. It might sound silly to some, to cry over a bird, but i love her with all my heart! It hurts so bad :(

I am so sorry for you; it's difficult to lose our furry friends. I can truly understand and almost feel the pain you have. Take special care of yourself.

No hon, it doesn't sound silly at all. I do have a short story if you don't mind.

I have always been afraid of birds, I remember, even my mom remembers me having a nightmare in my crib of chickens on my bed. Anyway...when I first took my son to daycare, the lady and her husband bought an African Grey Parrot. It was learning to talk and I was getting use to it a little because it was in this huge cage in the living room. I would never get too close though. Well one day we were all talking and laughing and then this bird started laughing too. Her husband came in and said she what you've done???? That bird laughed exactly like me....I have a destintive laugh...loud and cackle. Well this bird was laughing like me all the time and was driving Tony crazy. I then felt a little affection for this bird, although I was still afraid of it.

Mandy,

I am so sorry to hear about your loss.. Its so hard losing any animal.. I cried when I had to give my pet mouse away!! You make a bond with tme and you love them.. Just think, she is in Birdie heaven looking down upon you and singing and talking as much as she can.. She's your little angel now

Mandy, It is not silly to feel the way you do for your beloved bird. She was part of your family and you had your special time with each other. I feel your pain and once the crying has stopped you will have your loving memories of her.. Take care .

Aww, Mandy, I'm so sorry! I don't think it's silly at all. It is normal to feel sad when you lose something you love, no matter what it is. I couldn't imagine how sad I would be if anything ever happened to my Marty. *hugs*

Thank you all so much girls. Im still hurting bad, but doing a bit better, it will take a while before i get over it.
We had her cremated, it was the last thing we could do for her. It was heartbreaking to take her there, and make the arrangements, but my hubby did the talking, i couldnt get much out, he knew what i wanted done, and the lady deals with these cases daily, she was very sweet. It was very sad, yet very special to see what they do and how they treat our beloved pets. (if that makes sense) they placed her in a room on a table, they gave us the oppertunity to go in and say our last farewell.

Thank you all so much for your thought, prayers, and understanding. That means so very much to us.

Mandy I'm so sorry you are going through this. I argee with the others it is not silly at all. I had a doberman when I was a kid, I watched him get sick, suffer, & die. I think this is why I have not been close to another dog since. I became a cat person. Pets become part of our family & we have every right to be sad or cry. I hope your pain lessens each day. & remember that she was lucky to have shared her life with such a loving owner. If only everyone could care about their pets so much, we would have no need for agencies to protect them. *hugs*

I so glad you're doing better Mandy. Don't rush for your sorrow to go away. I think we each need to travel that road so that we can heal from our loss. Losing a pet is something that some people just don't understand. It's comforting when you have someone taking care of the arrangements that understands. My heart aches for you Mandy.

Thanks girl, i really and truely appreciate it. Yes i am taking it day by day, i do miss her a heck of a lot, and my heart aches for her, its hard to look at her pictures at this moment, and its difficult to walk over to the cage when my other bird calls for me, because shes just not there.

You girls are the best, i hope you all know what your words mean to me!

I'm so sorry Mandy. My son has a cockatiel and though he is not tame enough to be out of the cage we love him. He can be so funny and we would all hate to lose hm. Hope you are feeling better.

Thanks ladies, i really do appreciate all the understanding i get from you all... if i didnt have you all, dunno what i would do!
I am feeling better, tho we still talk a lot about her, i guess thats normal. We will never forget her, and i for sure will never forget how she loved life! Everyone that knew her, commented on how joyful, and loving she is.
