View Full Version : Fun events?
Yesterday Joels girlfriend (Shannon)and I went to the local annual horse auction for a while.
We had no intention of buying, but I know many horse people who I see there and I really do enjoy just checking out the horses!
I try to go to this every year simply because I enjoy it.
In fall, we always go as a family to an orchard where we ride hay wagons out into the hills to pick apples. We've done this since I was a kid.
What annual events do you make a point of attending? Are these traditions your parents passed down or new ones you've developed yourself?

My hubby and I want to make a tradition of going to the local Celtic Festival, but we didn't get to this year. Maybe next year...
Also, we go to Pittsburgh a few times a year, but that's not really a special event. It's just to see his family and to have some stress-free fun for a few days.

My sister and I make it out to the Austin City Limits music festival, this'll be our 3rd year and I can see us continuing this for years to come. But no big family traditions, maybe we can find something to make into one...

I can't think of anything that we do every year except, our small town has homecoming every year and we always go to it. There's a small parade (with tractors and the fire trucks!) and carnival rides. There's mini-class reunions and kids games, car exhibitions, and a bean feed with a dance on the square. It's an all day affair. Since my our families have both been in our community for years we spend a lot of our time chatting with friends and neighbors. It's very small town but we enjoy it!

I guess we do have our county fair. That's always fun and I've gone every year.

Lissa, how about New Braunfels? We've made that trip almost every year since before you were born.
We tube the Comal and Guadalupe Rivers and spend a wonderful long weekend. We usually try to make it to Schlitterbahn while we are there. http://www.schlitterbahn.com/

We love the Celtic Festival. It's very small & we would love to see one for a bigger town. We are starting a tradition of it. :D

I'm the same way Mandy. I HATE crowded places, but I can tolerate it if there's something really fun going on, like a festival or an amusement park or something like that.
