My son went out looking for a summer job yesterday. He should have gone looking before school was out, a lot of them are taken already. He did bring home a couple of applications to fill out and will take them back today and try some other places. He's only 16 and has a cast on his arm so I'm not too sure what he'll be able to find if anything.

I tried telling him the 'early bird gets the worm', but he put off going until school was out. Keep your fingers crossed please that he'll be able to find something for this summer.

What would he really like to do Janet? My son loves gardening, he is in agricultural college, so that helps, he works in other people's gardens on a saterday, he is looking for more places to go to after school breaks up.

I know that a lot of kids here mow lawns. He could always keep that in mind. I hope that he finds a job. Kids always love earning their own money.

My youngest daughter is working on the weekends at the theater my son bought. She's really enjoying it so far and gets to keep in touch with her friends who come in.

Tell Rick "Good luck" with finding a job.

I'll keep my fingers crossed! What kind of work is he looking for? My summer jobs were always working retail somewhere.

Well so far he has been putting applications in all kinds of places from fast food, grocery stores and department stores. So far no one has called, but it's only been a couple of days. I hope he finds something soon, unless I keep him busy, he doesn't do much. I've told him he'd better have a lot more initiative when he gets a job...they'll expect him to keep busy without them hovering over him. I think he's going to have a rude awakening to the 'real world.'
