My dh has made several really fun friendships since moving here 2 yrs ago. For some reason we have a lot of men in our neighborhood and they've really become a good group to get things done together.

Today my ds was having trouble getting a new belt on his car... before long the neighbor who owns a custom car shop came over with a specialized tool and popped that belt on in under 5 mins. The custom car guy had gotten delivery of 2 big heavy transmissions that he needed to get into his shop, so dh went over and helped him carry them in. Tonight our garage is filled with men using our table saw and planer to make a new floor for the bed of one of the mens pick up truck. They're all donating their time to each others projects, share tools, and have a heck of a good time in the process.

What's really helpful is the wide range of skills these guys have! Everything from farming, carpentry, electrical, mechanics, auto body, and even a physicians assistant are frequently included. They range in age from 20's thru 60's and all seem to respect each others particular talents. They rarely disagree on what they're doing or how they'll do it, and seem to let whoever has the most skill in the task at hand lead the project.

I've never seen anything like this before. It's community at it's best and seems that they check their egos at the door. It's SO GREAT to see dh and ds able to be part of this group. When I think about my one problem neighbor, I appreciate these other guys all the more. They are the reason we will never consider moving regardless of what this other neighbor has done.

That's great Tink. We don't have any close neighbors, but all come running, even friends from town, when there is a project to be completed. I think it's great too. These guys have a hard time doing anything alone, but get them all together and wow!! it's just amazing.
