We've been having a lot of rain, 7 inches so far and I can hear thunder coming at us again. It rained all day yesterday and all of last night and we've had trouble planting crops because we've just had too much water this whole spring. Anyway, today my husband and I got out and drove around to look at the water and I took some pictures for you. Keep in mind that we farm mostly in the river valley and that's where the flooding is the worst.
1. This is the stop sign not too far from the house (we're up on a hill). The river is behind the trees.
2. This is looking left from the stop sign. On the right side of the picture is a road that goes to a low water bridge. The water is probably 12 feet over the bridge, I'm guessing.
3. This is what the road looks like in front of my husband's parent's home. The water was pretty deep and we were pushing a wave of water in front of us.
4. This is one of my husband's fields that he just planted on Monday. We'll be doing a lot of replanting as soon as this dries up.

Here's some pictures you won't see very often!!!! Some of my family playing on a jet-ski in a field!!!! It really looked out of place!!!
1. In the front are my grandchildren, Kera, Karley, Elijah, and Kiley. In the back are 3 of my children, Jaci, Dae Lynn, and Feyn.
2. This is my husband with Elijah and Kiley going for a ride in the field on the jet-ski!!!
3. This is them again, but with my son, Feyn's home in the back ground. My son said, " That's a site that I never expected to see!" Meaning, the jet-ski going around in the field.
4. This is a place where river water was rushing over the road very quickly. Actually all of the water shown is water from the river.
OMG Diana! thats terrible, I hope that you are all doing well. Sometimes nature has a way of getting out of hand. Btw your children and grandkids are beautiful. You are a very young grandma... They all look they were having fun. Keep us posted, and stay safe and dry..

All the thunder that I heard has dumped another 2 1/2 inches in a very short time on us and is still pouring. My husband has just left and is planning to spend the night at my son's house because they think that the water might get into it and they'll have to move furniture. Once they get there they won't be able to get out they'll be stuck there because of the water so us girls are left here alone. I'm really worried about the water getting in my son's house. They just did a bunch of remodeling through the winter and will be really upset if water gets in.
Please say a prayer for them. Pray that the water won't get in the house and for their safety. Thanks!

Wow Diana! I'm sorry your weather is being so difficult. I'll definitely be thinking of your son tonight...
Diana, my prayers are with you all.
For both our sakes I wish I could take some of that rain away from you. I'm having to water daily and they're talking about cancelling fireworks for the 4th because of how dry everything is.
I hope you all keep safe and dry.

I just looked at our forecast and it's 80% for tomorrow, 70% for tomorrow night with heavy rains. We're thinking that this is going to be the biggest flood that we've ever seen.
My son-in-law was called to town with the fire truck to help rescue people who are stranded on top of their vehicles. He's not going to be able to make it back home tonight because we've had a lot of rain since he's left but his family (my daughter) lives right beside me so I know that they'll be alright. This is really turning into a desperate situation.
There's a new neighbor near our old place that's never been in a flood before. He called wondering what to do. There's no way that anyone can get to him and get him and his family out (they're right by the river) but there's another neighbor close by and my father-in-law recommended that they go over there. At least they have a two story home.
And it's STILL raining!

These floods are awful. It has been showing it on the news in Kansas and Texas. We were going through a bit of a drought here in Indiana and are still below our average, but it has rained and rained good. The brown grass is back to green again.
I'll keep you and your family in my prayers. I sure will pray the water doesn't get into your son's house. What a mess.

I will have to take some of the blame for all of the rain.
Jesus loves me and has been protecting me while we were having trouble with our retaining wall. Our lawsuit settled a couple of months ago and we were able to put in a new 12 high wall. We have been blessed with very little rain for the last 5 years. Well, just when we finished the new wall the rain started.
I think that God is just letting all the water he has been holding to protect us. Hopefully, his bucket is almost empty.

Diana, hope all is well, and that your son's home does not get water inside. We've had quite a bit of rain here, but the heavest rains (19 inches in one day in Marble Falls, TX) have stayed northwest of us. Fortunately they have not been too bad on our watershed. They have affected the Colorado and San Antonio Rivers in Texas, but the river that causes flooding in our area, the Guadalupe is not getting as much rain. The Colorado River is above us and the San Antonio River is below us.
Be careful driving around. Flowing water has more force than a lot of people realize.

Just wondering how you and your son are doing today, Diana? I hope he didn't get any damage from the flood and that everyone is safe...

I"ve seen all the water on the news. To bad you can't ship it out.
I live in Northern Indiana and we haven't had rain in 3 weeks. The corn is suppose to be knee high by the 4th. We're lucky it's even still there.
Our lawn is just one big dust bowl. Your in my prayers that it stops raining for a
while for you all.

The news this morning looks really bad for Kansas. Hope all is well with you Diana. It rained here, very heavy most of the night. We're near the coast, so it runs off quickly, but I'm sure there are a few streets and roads closed this morning. Our greatest danger here is river flooding from rain upriver. So far so good.
It looks really bad in Kansas on the news this morning. My heart goes out to you. We had flooding like that in '98. The major news networks were here filming rescues. We live on high ground so no problem for us, but there is a lot of low land around here, and some people on high ground get isolated by flooding, sometimes for days with no power.
Diana, I'm still thinking of and praying for you and your family.
I bought some perennials today on sale and when I started to dig to plant them I decided to put it off because the ground is so dry it's like talcum powder. Nothing's going to take root in that! I spent over an hr watering the plants I do have in and set the new ones in the shade in their pots hoping for a better time to set them in the gound.
I would seriously LOVE to recieve those baggies from you! About an inch a day for the next week would be fine by me! I know better than to wish for too much though, as I sure don't envy your situation!
Here's hoping the rain blows north and comes where it's needed rather than making your lives so difficult!
Diana,
I hope you're all okay. A flood is a terrible thing to happen. There's such destruction!
As long as you're all safe, and nobody gets hurt is really what's important.
Prayers and hugs,
DianaB

Thanks for all of your well wishes. We're going through a really hard time and have been severely affected by the flood. You can read more on my post in "I'm back!"
