View Full Version : Can't find dirt!

I am having a heck of a time finding some decent topsoil. When we bought our pool, where we had it set the ground sloped just a wee bit so they dug it out. Now that the pool is gone I'm not having any luck finding some dirt. I've called the county and state garages no dirt...called some builders and excavaters...no dirt. All I need is a small dump truck load.
We were wanting to fill it in before we put the fence up, (so we wouldn't run in to it leveling it off) but I don't want to wait much longer. I told my hubby maybe we can just plow it up and then level it off. Not sure what else to do. Any suggestions?
Honey, that has never come up in my life! I must say I am envious - happy for you, but envious that you have land!
Anyway, no advice,
Judy

That's okay Judy, not to many people I guess are in the market for dirt...LOL I just need a little. BUT whether we find some or not....I want that fence up!

Out here, we often have a need for dirt. But there is so much development going on all the time, it is no problem getting some. I don't know if they build in-ground pools out there, but that is the first place I'd check. Call a pool company to find when they'll be digging a pool nearby.

Thanks Misty, I've called everyone else, but never thought about a pool place...duh...you'd think I would since we just had ours sold and that's what I want filled in....LOLOL

Oh, that's a good idea! I hope they have some Janet and that you'll be able to put up your fence soon! :)

Janet, send a truck down. The neighbors have topsoil that washed out into the road with the flood that was easily 3 - 3 1/2 feet deep. The road grader just pushed it to the side of the road.
