Today, Brendon and I were coming home from spending time with my family, and as we were walking in our back door, Brendon noticed something on a beam below our deck...it was a bird's nest! We were immediately excited because we could tell we'd be able to see in it from above so we went upstairs and sure enough, we could see through the crack right inside the nest! There were four little bright blue eggs there. We didn't want to get too close in case the mother decided she wouldn't come back (or decided to attack us, which has happened to me before), but we were able to get some photos. Hopefully, we'll be able to see the little babies when they're hatched!

I'm surprised it is so low to the ground. Do you have any idea what kind of bird?

It will be fun peeking in on them.

I think it is a robin, but I can't be 100% sure since we haven't seen Mama yet. We'll definitely be more observant now that we know it's there. :)

Yes, they sure look like robins eggs to me too!
How neat!

That's really cool!!! Robins do lay blue eggs. You'll have a little peeky hole to keep an eye on them while they grow!!! Cool!!!!!

I have an old mailbox on my porch with flowers planted in it and a wren has built a nest in it but I'm not sure how many eggs. She flies out into my face whenever I get very close!!!

Wow, I was attacked by a mama blue jay when I was about 8 years old. I didn't even know there was a nest and I walked out on the porch at my grandparents house to go to the car and before I knew it, I was being pecked on my head over and over again! I ran like crazy to get back in the house! There were huge bumps on the top of my head from its beak. It was scary, but it's a funny story to tell people now. lol.

Anyway, be careful. They can hurt!

I was attacked by a blue jay too when I was little. I had gone out in the back yard and I didn't know that there was a baby blue jay on the ground. I got pecked on top of my head too. It hurt and I stilll remember it too!

I just wanted to update to say that it's definitely a robin's nest. :) We saw Mama there today. She flew away when we drove our car under the nest. (We have to in order to park!)

Hopefully I'll have some baby bird pictures for you soon!

Diana, I'm sorry you got attacked too! I think blue jays are the most protective birds out there when it comes to their babies!!

Two of the birds have hatched!! :) They have the cutest little beaks, but they'll be a lot cuter when their feathers start coming in! We can't find our headlamp right now because I moved it somewhere and don't remember where I put it. :o As soon as we find it, I'll post more pics!
