I figure there are so many of us here from different parts of the world it would be interesting to see what we can learn from each other's mistakes or mishaps... even our good fortunes... SO...

IF you could give one piece of advice to anyone of us what would it be?

Respect, i think that's the key. Teaching our children to have respect, starts at home, our son has respect for us, but in return, we respect him.
I always tell him, respect, and you will be respected in return.
Same goes for animals, i have from a very young age taught him how to treat animals.

Honesty, if you can't be honest to other people, how can you be honest to yourself.

Never judge, because you never know what goes on behind closed doors.

Don't feel like a failure, rather learn from your mistakes.

My list can go on LOL... these are just little things i use at home.

Do NOT pursue a man. If he likes you, he likes you, if not, MOVE ON. If you want to put things in perspective regarding your relationship, you have to read He's Just Not That Into You. I thought that book was great. It taught me a lot! :D

Those who feel they have to pretend to be something they're not to make someone like or love them are in for disappointment. It wouldn't be YOU they were attracted to, and in time you're going to slip up and expose yourself as a phony anyway. It's best to just be the best YOU you can be which will make your life a lot more fun and the people who choose to be in your life more apt to stay for the long term.

My goodness, this is such a great thread and it looks like it's leaving people speechless. There is so much good advice to give in just everyday living it's really hard to think of one. I guess mine would be...

1. Find God....he makes life so much easier.
2. Respect..a lot of problems could be avoided if there was more respect.
3. Never lie..it will sooner or later, come back to haunt you
4. Slow down...each decade keeps getting faster and faster....teach your children to slow down now, so that it becomes a habit.
5. Look around you at all God's creations and feel true peace
6. Laugh...never forget to laugh...even at yourself.
7. If you love someone...tell them
8. Believe in yourself..you're unque..one of a kind
9. Smile...it makes others smile too
10. Lastly...What you are is God's gift to you...what you make of yourself is your gift to him.

:) :) :)

These are both from experience-

*Follow your intuition! Listen to that little gut feeling you get.

*LET THOSE YOU CARE ABOUT KNOW THAT YOU CARE ABOUT THEM!!! You never know when it'll be too late!

Never leave the house without telling your family you love them. Living in NYC, with 9/11 and all I often wonder about all those people that went to work that morning and never came home. I know this sounds morbid but we are living in a dangerous world. Hubby and I get up at 5 am to start our days and sometimes neither of us is feeling particularly cheerful. No matter how tired and cranky I feel, I always kiss him goodbye and tell him that I love him. We should never take our loved ones for granted because we don't know what tomorrow may bring.

Very true! Just be yourself, if they don't love you the way you are, they can move on.
No one has to pretend or live a fake life!

We should all take heed to your post!!! When parting with a loved one even for a little while, let them know you love them...they may never make it back.:)

Don't sweat the small stuff!

Before you judge someone ask yourself "have I walked in their shoes?"

Always be there for your friends.

Give more than whatever is expected of you.

Make yourself happy first. If you're not happy, nobody's happy.

I could go on, and on, and on, and on....

I love this thread. One thing I have learned recently is to be happy. Life IS good, and everything can be made into something possitive. It's so important to be happy, and not let things (events) or other PEOPLE bring you down. Life is too short, so next time that jerk cuts you in line, or someone says something nasty about you or your family, just know what negative energy they are surrounding themselves in and shake it off. Smile and be truely happy.

&

Don't take anyone forgranted. Appreciate your friends and family, furbabies and others that surround you and be thankful for every minute of time spent with them. You can't go back in time.

&

Follow your heart......Where ever it may lead you! :)

Don't get mad or upset about the things you can't change.

You always have a choice. If nothing else you can choose your attitude.

It's better to give than to receive.

A couple from my wise Grandma, may she RIP:

You have two ears and one mouth for a reason. (I need to heed that one more!)

As long as you're clean and paid for you have nothing to worry about. (She meant that literally as well as metaphorically.)

DOn't do anything that wouldn't make your mom proud!

Always respect others opinions!

Stop blaming others for our own failures and take a good look in the mirror....

Save money, even on the most modest of incomes!

Enjoy life, life is too short!!!!

Follow your heart!!!!!!

(((((Treat others the way you would want to be treated.))))) Stop and think before you speak. For instance....I work at the front desk of a motel, somebody calls the office to complain of a hair on the bathroom floor. I mean com' on... a hair....and they want a full refund, and still want to stay the night. Situations like this happen pretty often.I've seen alot in the past 5 years working there, people looking for something to complain about, just so they can get their money back. Just be nice overlook some things. Its really not that bad. Oh... and be nice to the desk clerk too!LOL She didnt put the hair their. Thats just one idea. Another might be, when your returning an item to the store, (personel experience) Dont go in expecting to get what you want, refunds ect... by yelling or just being very rude to the clerk, for one she doesent deserve it, and she is actually more apt not to help you that way. Be very nice and respectful, and you will see how sometimes they will go out of their way, even break the rules to try and help you. (You'll catch more bees with honey than with vinegar)!
