anyone?
Oh Amber the village is beautiful. I wish we would have had this site earlier!!!...I had a little shop that my brother-in-law gave me to start a village, but I put it in my garage sale. I would have rather just sent it on to you for nothing.
You are probably gonna love this...I am 51 right? I still have the original Barbie and the box she came in, original Ken, and Skipper. I also have the original "Hello Heidi" doll. She is about 6 or seven inches tall and when you push the button on her belly, her arm raises up.:)

My favorite movie of all time is The Wizard of Oz. I have a pair of ruby slippers (child size but they are so cute), the Wizard of Oz monopoly board and trivia game. I also have figurines and a coffee mug, the movie, the soundtrack and posters. I would have named my Yorkie Toto (even though the original Toto was a Cairn Terrier) but my husband named him Nikko and since he gave him to me, I couldn't argue. I just LOVE this movie!!:)

I remember being afraid of the flying monkeys when I was little. It was a big production at our house. We always looked forward to the movie on TV. It was an even bigger production when we got our first color television. We didn't know it started out black and white and then into color.

Yeah, I don't know how much mine is worth. I received it for Christmas in 1960 I think. I'm not sure. I was only 5 or 6 at the time if I remember right. She was the one that had the curley hair right above her forehead, then it was put in a pony tail and at the end of the poney tail was more curls. I think she was one of the first made. I have a bunch of clothes for her and then my mom made a bunch more.

Those are really cute. I wish I had a collection, but don't really know what I would start with and where in the heck I'd put it...
I think my Mom was wanting me to collect Angels and has given me some, but even though I love them, I have to dust them, too!! Come on Mom, give me a break!!:)

I have Tammy, my mother would not let me have Barbie, she was too curvy, not a good role model for a little girl. My daughters had lots of Barbies.
I do not collect anything at the moment, went through the Beanie Baby thing and have bunches in plastic tubs in the attic. Have some Avon figurines stored in the cabinet. Collected post cards of our county courthouse for a while, have one from 1894. Guess if I collect anything, that would be it, the post cards. They don't take up much space or collect dust in my filing cabinet.
In my opinion, at this point in life, collectables are money drains, and dust collectors, so I'm into simplifying. But if collecting is your thing, more power to you. We all have something that makes our lives more interesting & hunting for that special something can be a lot of fun. ;)

I'm kind of there too!! I guess about the only thing I keep, not really a collection is mementos. After my father-in-law passing we have a lot of his things like birth certificates, Navy items including his uniform, you know just stuff about his life. I keep a lot of things of my sons and have things of mine and hubby's as well. They are in plastic tubs in the attic. It's nice to go back and read journals and things. Life is so different now.

She looks very similiar to mine. I wish I would have collected Barbies. But I just don't have the money or the room now! Would have been a great idea when I was little, huh?:)
I collect snowmen. They range from 1" to over 3 feet tall and have a place of honor in my living room year 'round. I have a couple dozen.
Hubby keeps promising to make me a full size one for the lawn, but can't seem to get started on it.
Those christmas villages are SO pretty! I don't have space for anything like that, but they really are nice!

I also collect holiday barbies! I have all of them except the first three in the series, plus 1995 (when i thought i was too old for barbies!) Last year, I also got the inuit barbie, and if i remember correctly, it was only sold in canada. It's gorgeous!

Man....I screwed up big time not collecting Barbies when I was little didn't I?? I could have a gold mine...although I wouldn't have sold them for the money. Like I said, mine are all put away in my attic. I also have a Bride Doll and a Chattie Cathy Doll. Those are old let me tell ya...LOL:)

The box that came with my Barbie was just that! A long narrow box, big enough for Barbie, but you couldn't see her until you took the lid off. I still have that box too. And shoes....lots of Barbie shoes.

The pic's of everyone's collections are wonderful. I collect Santa Clause's and snow globes. My husband always teases me during the Christmas holiday because he says we have our own personal "Santa Shrine". :)
Janet

GOD BLESS SANTA!!!!
I have some kids on the bus every year that want to tell all the little ones that there is no Santa!! That drives me crazy, so naturally I have to tell the non-believers that there is too a Santa. He may not be someone you can touch, but you can feel his presence all around.

We collect Hallmark ornaments. Our Christmas tree in the family room is just Hallmark. I collect Christopher Radko ornaments and that's the theme of my Christmas tree in the living room. I also collect Gzhel Russian porcelain but I haven't bought any in a long time.
I collect Swarovski ornaments, and the jewelry collection.
Mandy I have several pieces of Swarovski jewelery and ornaments, they are very pretty. I start collections of various, snowbabies, prescious moments, elvis, but I always end up buying angels like I mentioned.

I collect (or rather used to) GWTW movie memorabilia. Before the boys came along, I purchased quite a few original pieces - and a few are even rare. I have an original movie program from 1939 in mint condition, a black & white still publicity photo from 1940 (only 120 were produced), a poster out of a warehouse in South America that I paid $15 for and was offered WAY more than that for it about a month after I bought it, and an original movie poster from 1954 that has a purple background. I have other original pieces but these I've listed are the rare things I have - I have books, other posters, movie stills, lobby cards, dolls, figurines, and music boxes. I still look for GWTW things to add to my collection. Right now, I'm adding the Hallmark Christmas Ornaments to my collection - missed out on last year's ornament as our store only got like 6 in and by the time I got there, they were gone:( So I'll check ebay for it one of these days.
I also was part of the "beanie baby" craze a few years ago and now have 3 plastic containers full of them in my attic (they are all sealed in plastic bags). I don't collect barbie but I do have some of mine from when I was little - my favorite is Hair Happenin Francie from 1970 - got her as a birthday present:) And as a family, we've collected some NASCAR 1/24th scale cars.

I wish I would have started collecting when I a child. My mother didn't want things cluttering up her house, so that idea was shot!!! Then when I first got married, we were just starting out and wanted things for our home. Not sure what I would want to collect if I did start.
My husband is the collector in our family. He has a 4 car garage that he can't park a car in. It is so full of so much crap. He doesn't throw anything away and whenever I've thrown things out of the house, I can usually find it somewhere in his garage. Drives me crazy. Maybe I will have to start a thread in the VENT forum...LOL
