My husband had his back surgery on August 9th and is doing great. Matter of fact...he's camping this weekend with the Boy Scouts...lol YEAH!!! A weekend alone!!!

His surgery lasted about four hours. They put in a couple of spacers between the vertebrae and had to put in a couple of screws. They also had to remove some spurs that were pinching the nerves that lead into his legs.

He now has feeling in his legs and feet again. He gets around just fine, is driving again and like I wrote earlier...is out camping.

Still not use to him being around home 24/7 and feel at times I'd pick up a ball bat if we had one...LOL He is making himself useful, keeping dishwasher cleaned out, makeing coffee the night before so I'll have some when I wake up, folding his own clothes from the dryer and a few other odds and ends that won't hurt his back.

He starts therapy this week and doesn't have his next Dr. appointment for 4 weeks. He's doing so well, I sure hope he can go back to work earlier than 3 months. I really miss my alone time during the day, but I do want him to be completely healed before he goes back to work.

I did take pictures of his back so HE could see it better, but don't feel it would be a good idea to post here. Never know who has a queezy stomach and the incision is about 8 inches long.

Keep the prayers coming that he will continue to heal as fast as he is.

In all honesty, I'm getting use to him being around, but still anxious for him to go back to work. I think he is too. All I hear is 'how bored' he is. He has been making coffee so that it is ready when I wake up and has been unloading the dishwasher. So that does help. He's still not suppose to lift anything yet, so what he can do to help, he has been.

I really enjoyed this past weekend alone while the boys were camping with Scouts. Got quite a bit done and took a couple of naps.

Like most people, he had heard so many horror stories about back surgery. I just told him to do EVERYTHING to the letter that the Dr. tells him to do. He has been and is doing great. Right his minute he is in at our rental house fixing the kitchen faucett. It had a small leak. Then he is going to check what other things need done and if he can do them, he will, if not he will get someone to get it done. At least I shouldn't hear that he's bored today....LOL :)

{{{Janet}}} I'm so glad he's doing well!
It's hard having them miserable and underfoot, so the better he does, the easier it should be for you. I'll keep you both in my prayers that he keeps improving quickly and that you don't get your hands on any bats. :sidesplit:

Wow! He's doing better AND helping around the house?! Couldn't get any better than that, huh? Well, until he goes back to work anyway... ;) :D

I'm glad to hear such good news Janet.
