Greg sent me to the hardware store this afternoon to pick up a couple things for him and when I walked in they said "Your dh is on the phone." I expected he'd thought of something else he needed me to pick up. No such luck!

He'd been working on the dog pen, and stood up in the wrong spot and smacked his face on the end of the arm of the steel clothes line pole. He bent and scratched his glasses, and scraped his eyeball quite badly. So I had to rush home and take him to the hospital.

He's on antibiotics, vicodin for the pain, and has to go see a specialist tomorrow. He was supposed to have gone back to work tomorrow after having had a week off, and now he's off until at least Thursday, propbably longer.

I also have my oldest granddd here and am supposed to take her back tomorrow... so it should be a juggling act trying to get her home as well as him taken care of. The shingles need to be put on the dog houses yet, and a gate needs to be built and mounted, but the project has come to an abrupt halt with dh's injury. He's now not allowed to bend over because it can put pressure on his eyeball.

Goodness Tink, how scary! I'm sorry that you hubby is hurt and that you are unable to work on your project. I hope the visit with the specialist goes well tomorrow and that he heals very quickly!

Oh Man! A scratched eye is no fun at all! I hope things go well at the docs. Ask them if they can give him anything to numb the eye. When the doc was looking for the scratch on my eye she put numbing drops in my eye. They worked for close to 3 hours. Hope everything is ok.

It sounds pretty serious if he's being sent to a specialist. I hope that everything's alright but I'll say a prayer for him. Keep us posted on how your husband's doing.

Thanks ladies

Greg saw the eye dr today. He gave him a different type of antibiotic and some drops to help ease the pain. He's doing much better with this as the vicodin didn't seem to do much.

He's supposed to go in for a recheck on Wed and has to get a new lens for his glasses as well. It's uncomfortable and his vision is quite blurry right now, but he's still very lucky as it could have been a whole lot worse. Unless he gets an infection, he should have a full recovery. He's being very careful to use the drops as directed, so we don't expect any problems.

I am so glad Tink that your husband is doing better and expected to completely heal.

Just the other day, I was helping my son mow the lawn. Before my husbands' surgery, he had laid a galvanized pole across the wood pile. As I was mowing around the wood pile, I didn't see the pole and it whacked me right across the face. I wear glasses, but also use those sunglass lenses over them. Good thing, because it scratched the sunglass lense to bits while saving the lense on my glasses. A real close call for my right eye.
