Jaci's been having a lot of sore throats lately and coughing up tonsil stones. It started right before school was out last year and she's had trouble all summer so we're having them taken out on Wednesday. Out of 4 kids we've never had to have tonsils taken out, but Jaci has more problems with allergies than the others and that's what causes the tonsil stones. I'd appreciate your prayers for her. She's been so busy with cheer, volleyball, and school that I think that she's looking forward to getting a rest from them.

Oh, poor girl to suffer with that. I'll hold her close in prayer that she has a speedy recovery. Now you stock up on her favorite ice cream and toppings.
I hope her surgery goes well and she recovers quickly.
No sense in suffering with something they can fix!
My prayers are with you all.

Thanks guys! She hasn't seemed too nervous about it but I'm sure come Wednesday morning she will be. We have to go in tomorrow morning for our "pre-op talk".

Good luck tomorrow Diana. I hope Jaci stays as calm about this as she is now. I bet she's looking forward to being done with all of those throat problems!

I thought that I'd let you know that Jaci's back home. We ended up having to spend the night because she couldn't keep anything in her stomach. I stayed with her all night and, while she slept alright, I slept awful. Too many noises in a hospital! She's got a really bad sore throat but seems to be a little better at eating then she was yesterday. I'm just glad to be back home!
I'm so glad she's got that behind her. Hopefully now she can heal and be done with that throat stuff.
My prayers are with her.
Thanks for letting us know!

Aww, I'm sorry her stomach was upset and you two had to stay in the hospital... :(
Glad she's feeling better though. Make sure to get a good night's sleep tonight!
Hi Diana! I just saw your post about Jaci. I just want to say that my son always had strep throat as a child in elementary school. He is now 22 yrs.old. Back then he was constanly on antibodics and home from school. The dr. suggested that he has his tonsils removed and that summer before school started we did.
Let me tell you , when you hear about eating all the ice cream and cold stuff you think wow thats great. I still to this day remember him throwing up after surguery until we got home he was doing it. It was awful, then he couldnt eat at all for a few days, to painful. So the ice cream and cold stuff come a little later on. Don't be surprised if she doesn't want any. All I did was cry, for he was so pitful.
But that was the best thing to have his tonsils removed he never had strep again or suffered many sore throats. Tell Jaci it will get better, I hope she has a speedy recovery.

I've been missing again!!!
Diana I'm so glad that this procedure is behind her now. I'm sure it won't take long for her to start healing. Until, then you'll just have to do what we mothers do best....spoil our babies while they recuperate. Good time for the two of you to cuddle, watch a movie, and eat ice cream.

She's still having pain especially when she eats and I think that she's tired of hurting because the tears are coming pretty easy now. It's hard to help someone who's hurting. She's suppose to go back to school on Monday but I'm wondering if she'll be up to it. I guess I'll have to wait and see how she's doing on Monday. Thanks for all of your concern. You are all such special friends!!!!!!

Diana, how is Jaci doing? It's been awhile since I've posted anything, I'm trying to get caught up reading. I hope she's doing great.

Last week was really hard on her. When she would get up in the morning she would be hurting so bad that she'd stay home until about 10 or 11 o'clock. We did that a couple of days then on Thursday her throat and ear hurt and she had a bad headache so I called the doctor and he prescribed some antibiotics for her. :nursing: By Friday she felt some better and by Saturday she was almost back to her old self. She must have had some infection starting and the antibiotics just pushed her over the hump. Her voice is still not quite there yet but she's acting soooo much better.
Between having her not feel well and running to the field to help out it was a crazy week. Our combine hasn't started since the flood so I don't have to help out in the field but everytime they need something I get a call!! This week will be better!!!!:) Thanks for checking on her!!!

I'm so glad she's doing better Diana! It must be so hard to see your child hurting and not be able to do anything about it...

Yes, it is. It's hard when they're hurting and you can't tell how bad it is so you know how to treat it. Is it bad enough to call the doctor or do I need to just let her take Tylenol and wait? When there's tears envolved it's even harder. Is she tired or is she really hurting that bad? That's probably the hardest part.
She is just so much better since she's had the antibiotics!! I'm a happy Mama!!!!:p
Diana,
I'm so sorry. I missed this whole thing, but thank goodness that she's back to herself (almost anyway). Poor kid.

I'm glad she's feeling better. I know I just can't hardly stand it when my 16 year old is sick or hurting.
Poor honey! She's had a bit of a rough patch.
