Our next door neighbors are totally reckless when it comes to their kids. :thumbdwn: I've seen the kids in a 3' deep above ground swimming pool unattended when they were 1 and 3... Riding trykes in the middle of the street when they were 2 and 4... now that they're 3 and 5, they've graduated to jumping in the middle of the road, throwing their hands up and stopping traffic! They do this about twice a week. Traffic goes by here at about 55 mph and includes loaded logging trucks, milk haulers, and others who simply can't stop on a dime to avoid a child.

I finally decided if I don't call I'm going to feel as guilty as they should feel if something happens to those kids. :omg: So I just got off the phone with the local sheriffs dept about it. They said they'll send someone out if there's anyone close enough to respond quickly, or will call the house and tell whatever adult is there to get outside and watch those kids.

It just makes me sick to my stomach to see those 2 running unwatched like they do. Even if their parents don't care, I don't want to see them get run over! So if I'm a witch for turning them in, so be it. At least I'm going to try to do something before someone gets hurt or worse.

I think that you're only thinking of the kids'welfare and that's what's important. I was hoping that your "neighbor problems were about over.

I totally agree - you did the right thing! That's just awful now neglectful the parents are! :thumbdwn: You never know what "could" happen and you could have saved those kids from a lot of harm.

That is not at all safe Tink, especially these days. I'm so glad you had the courage to speak up for them. Children need more advocates like you...

I'm just reading this post now. I would have first let the parents know what their kids were doing...then I would have DEFINATELY called the police...If this continues you should consider giving child protective services a call. It's obvious that these people (I don't consider them parents) don't watch their children very carefully and don't really care what they do. Unfortunately one day one of these little ones are going to get hurt and it will be too late by then. I feel you did the right thing and only hope that either the police do something or they call DSS.
