As of last Thursday evening (Aug. 30th), I've been smoke free. That's 9 days so far!!!
I tried with some of the others on YT and used the Chantix pills that worked great for my husband. The pill just made me so sick to my tummy that I had to quit taking them. I still had some patches left so I started on them and they seem to be doing great so far. Oh there have been times here the last few days that I wanted to sneak one soooo bad, but I don't really want to and I keep telling myself that first drag will make me dizzy and sick to my stomach. Plus, I'd have to go buy some, there aren't any here to sneak. So for nine days now my friends....I haven't had one lousy puff. YEAH!!! for me!!:)
Anyone have a BudLight handy????...LOL:D

Janet, that is wondermous!
Being a smoker myself, I KNOW how hard it is. I made it 4 months once and went back like I'd never stopped. I'm praying you'll be strong and beat it this time. Then you can be MY inspiration!
I too am SO proud of you! Way to go lady! :congrats: that first week is a pita! :happy026:

Thanks all for the encouragement. Not to just be 'blowing smoke', but I really think I'm gonna make it this time. For one thing, the thought of taking that first puff and getting dizzy, really makes me sick to my stomach. Another thing is I don't want to disappoint my son. AND another reason, my lungs or I think it's my lungs, hurt sometimes. So, I don't want those darn things any more.
I didn't know you smoked Tink. Don't you wish you could go back in time and not strart? I wish that all the time. I really think I can stop this time, but hey, we all know...at least us smokers know that it wouldn't take much to light one up. I'll keep using the patch and take one day at a time.

You go girl!!! I am all for it. The more people in the world that quit smokig the better it is for people like me.
I have chronic bronchitis and just passing by someone smoking can set things off.

15 days smoke free ladies. I think I'm doing really good. I don't think about it very often any more, so I hope it stays that way. I know it's still early yet, but still, the THOUGHT of just taking a puff still makes be sick to my stomach.

I've heard that too Mandy. It really is scary to even think about taking a puff again. It's either my upper back or my lungs that ache. I wish I had never started that horrible habit. I'm so mad at me and the habit that I pray it keeps me from wanting another cigarette.
  :bravo: Janet way to go!! You can do it girl, I quit smoking 27 yrs. ago and I never went back. Matter of fact I hate it now and cannot be around it... Great willpower, YOU CAN DO IT GIRLFRIEND! yaaaaaaaaaa
Janet, I am SO thrilled for you!
You're doing so well and during a stressful time.
I have every faith you're now a non smoker for life.
Well done hon!     for you!

Thank you all for wondering about me. I'm still smoke free ladies!!! I'm so proud of myself!
It's not that I don't crave one now and again, but I just stop whatever I'm doing and do something else. I DO NOT WANT TO LIGHT ONE UP EVER AGAIN. I just have to keep saying that, because smoking is a very strong habit and so easy to go back to. I just keep thinking of how that first puff would make me so light headed and dizzy, plus a little sick to my stomach.
I've crossed every hurdle so far...like no more smoking while drying my hair, smoking while on the computer, while driving, or sitting out back on my swing, things like that. The only one I haven't crossed yet is being home alone while the guys are camping. They go in about two weeks I think. I'll just really have to keep my mind busy.
It's been four weeks yesterday!!! Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Thanks my friends. I am never going to smoke again. I may want to at times...but at least my mind is clear to say NO NO NO!!!!!
I do have to tell you one thing though, food sure does taste different now. Especially my coffee of a morning. No matter what I do or how I fix it, it just doesn't taste right. I'm getting use to it, but not fast enough...lol AND I have gained a few lbs already....Sucks, but hey, I'll tackle one thing at a time.
Janet, I'm so proud of you!
That's a great accomplishment and a huge step in the right direction to a healthier future. Well done hon!

That is really great Janet. My doctors keep telling me how great it is that I don't smoke. Seems like it can make a difference in treatment. It is hard to believe the things it can affect. I know it is hard but you seem to be doing great. Way to go!

......Diana where did you get the cheerleaders icon?
At the side of the box where you write out your posts there's a group of smilies. At the bottom of it it says "more". Click on it and another screen pops up (enlarge that screen so you can see them all easier. Also, scroll down and there's even more!!) and there's lots and lots of little things that you can add to your post. Just put your curser where you want your smilie to go and then click on the one you want. Very easy! If you have any trouble figuring it out let me know and me or one of the other girls will help you. Good luck!

Thanks again everyone for the words of encouragement. It's been over 4 weeks now, so I'm not turning back. I really think this smoking gig is over. I just have to remind myself to clean the windshield in my van. All that nicotine and smoke residue is still there. Maybe I'll remember to do it today.

:D Still going strong ladies...no smokes since August 30th. Yeah for me!!! Even after all this time, let's see....7 weeks today, I still at times would love to 'light up', but I haven't. I just go do something else to get my mind off of it and it always works.
Bad thing though..you all know how I've been fighting the weight battle...well, I've gained every pound I've lost back. Hate to admit this, but back up to 242...SUCKS!!!:(
Aww Janet, one battle at a time. Winning the no smoking one is HUGE! Once you're comfortable with that you can go back to the weight issue. We're all ALWAYS works in progress, so give yourself a big pat on the back for this one 'cause you've done SO well!

You can only do one thing at a time. First you stop smoking and start feeling physically so good you won't believe the difference!
Then, tackle the weight thing.
I think they're both huge undertakings and should be done with grace and a great deal of self-respect.
Janet,
By the way, I stopped smoking years ago, but every so often get a momentary craving. It's maybe twice a year. The way I learned to get around those is that I decided that after I die, I will start smoking again, along with several other bad habits I've given up along the way.
I'm going to have a really good time in heaven.
