There are quite a few I favor although most skip my mind at the moment, but my absolute favorite is:

What you are is God's gift to you; what you make of yourself is your gift to God.

I wrote down my favorite quotes for a chapter of a memory book in high school.. I just opened it up and I'll share some with you guys...

"Friends are those people who know the words to the song in your heart and sing them back to you when you have forgotten the words." - Anonymous

"Impossible is a word to be found only in the dictionary of fools." - Napoleon Bonaparte

"If you judge people you have no time to love them." - Mother Teresa

"Intense love does not measure, it just gives" - Mother Teresa

"Let us endeavor to live, so that whn we die, even the undertaker will be sorry." -Mark Twain

"Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars." - Les Brown

"Keep away from those who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you believe that you too can become great." - Mark Twain

"Small is the number of people who see with their eyes and think with their minds." - Albert Einstein

"The best and most beatiful things in the world can not be seen or even touched, they must be felt with the heart." - Helen Keller

"Expecting the world to treat you fairly cause you are a good person is like expecting a bull not to attack you because you are a vegetarian." - Dennis Wholey

"Truly great friends are hard to find, difficult to leave, and impossible to forget." - G. Randolf

"Friendship is born at the moment when one person says to another, 'What?! You too! Thought I was the only one!'" - Clive Staples Lewis (how true!)

"If you smile when no on else is around, you really mean it." - Andrew A. Rooney

"In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: It goes on." - Robert Frost

They're not all "touching" but when I'm having a bad day they do make me feel better.

The most important words we'll ever utter are those words we say to ourselves, about ourselves, when we are by ourselves.

My life has been filled with terrible misfortune; most of which never happened.

Never take life seriously, nobody gets out alive anyway.

Assumption is the mother of all screw- ups.

Depression is merely anger without enthusiam.

Everybody is somebody else's weirdo.

If you have trouble getting your children's attention, just sit down and look comfortable.

It's not how big your share is, It's how much you share that's important.

Sometimes just a smile on our face can help to make this world a better place. Stand up for the things that are right. Try to talk things out instead of fight. Lend a hand when you can. You can help to make a difference

home is where the heart is.

I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13

This verse was never more true than last year on my birthday when Sam had his accident. He and I both endured months of pain and recovering - and I include myself because when he hurts, I hurt. He saw us through the pain, surgeries, and recovery periods that lasted for over 6 months and we made it through, because of His strength and love for us.

The other favorite of mine is, "When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure" - reminds me that those we lose in death are never really gone as long as we treasure and hold on to their memories. My sister gave me a matted picture frame for Christmas a few years ago with this engraved on it.

Those both are beautiful, but every verse in the Bible is...don't you think? :)

Great post! I am always collecting good quotes. :)

My favorite quote, lately, is the one I put in my signature. "Why blame the dark for being dark? It's far more helpful to ask why the light isn't as bright as it should be." ~ Rob Bell

Other ones I really-really like are:

"Merely having an open mind is nothing; the object of opening the mind, as of opening the mouth, is to shut it again on something solid." - G.K. Chesterton

"Reality is like a fine wine-- it will not be enjoyed by children." - unknown

"Pro photography is a lifestyle, not a job." - college photography professor

And one I got today from a college friend on email:

"Simply put, there are too many darker corners in this world that calls out for caring hearts, and that the vast majority of us who live in comfort take too many blessings for granted. Then, we lose the ability to think differently and to understand people who live in tough situations. Although one can say that I can never do enough to make a difference, but I won't believe that. I don't know which direction I am going to go yet, or how exactly am I going to get there, but I can make a difference, and I will."
~ Annalisa

(And of course this leaves out my favorite Bible verses, but there are so many!! And every day it seems a new one jumps out at me that really speaks to my heart, so my "most favorite" verse is always changing!)

As an English Lit Major in college, I soaked up so many quotes that pertained to different times in my life. On my program for my upcoming wedding, I added a little Shakespeare...
"He is half part blessed man
Left to be finished by such as she
And she is a fair divided excellence
Whose fullness of perfection lies in him"

"My precious, precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you. "

These are the last lines of the Footprints Poem.

"love looks not with the eyes but with the mind" A Midsummer Night's Dream by Shakespeare

"Two roads diverged in a wood, and I?
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference. " The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost

Oh, I didn't know that about Bobby. I have a recording of that poem set to very good music that some guys in my senior AP English class did as a project. It was amazing. I'll have to let you hear it sometime. Maybe I can find a way to host it and link to it so everyone can hear it. :)
