My butthead neighbors next door have a yellow lab female that's about 7-8 months old. I've told before how they haven't taught her anything other than to fear them. Well now the poor dog has come into her first heat. I can tell by the way Moses wants SO badly to get over there!

She's on a chain that reaches out farther than her dilapidated fence, so when she jumps the fence she ends up with her chain hung up over it. I'm just waiting to see her strangled on it! So instead of fixing their fence and making sure she's safe from any wandering males, they've brought a large black lab male home to put with her! The female is skinny, far too young, and doesn't have papers... so breeding her makes no sense to me in any way. They're just hoping to make a quick buck and are likely to do some serious damage to the dog in the process.

She has no dog house, and should be due about the 3rd week in November when it's just starting to get good and cold here. By the time the pups should be 6 weeks old (I know they won't want to keep them any longer than that) we will be expecting sub-zero temps. If any live that long, they'll likely die of hypothermia waiting for homes.

I wish stupidity was illegal so they'd all get put away! Calling the local humane society does NO good. I've talked to them before when they were gone for 2 weeks and left their dogs chained and cats outside with no one feeding or watering any of them. That time one of the other neighbors and I fed and watered them... this situation won't be so easy to save them from.

This is the 3rd female lab pup they've had in the past year. Neither of the other 2 lived long enough to come into her first heat.

:( This saddens me :( i hate people like them, i truly do, it's not healthy i know, but when it comes to animal cruelty, i can become a beast.

The black male was here a bit ago to check us out. His tail curls up like a huskies and his head is huge and blocky like a boxer or pitt bull. There's no way that dog is a purebred lab. Why they've decided to breed her with him is beyond me.

He looks to be very young... I doubt he's a year old. He's skinny, way out of proportion, and was determined to get up to the pup I was holding. I yelled for dh to bring a broom out of the garage and sure enough when the dog saw that he took off with his tail between his legs. I figured if he belongs to friends of theirs he's probably been beat senseless and his reaction told me he has. I was glad he left, but sad that it was so easy to know how to intimidate him.

I'm hoping he's not one of her littermates. :( With these people it wouldn't surprise me in the least. :thumbdwn:

That's awful Tink! I'd be so furious if something like that were going on right next door to me. I sure hope you can talk some sense into them...
