A Woman's Poem
He didn't like the casserole
And he didn't like my cake.
He said my biscuits were too hard,
Not like his mother used to make.
I didn't perk the coffee right
He didn't like the stew,
I didn't mend his socks
The way his mother used to do.
I pondered for an answer
I was looking for a clue.
Then I turned around and smacked the beans out of him...
Like his MOTHER used to do.

I loved it!!!!! When we were first married my husband said to me "Why don't you find out how my Mom makes this." He learned not to EVER say that to me again.
My father's kid cousin Eddy was a real mama's boy. He got married and the first morning home, he showed back up at his parents' house. His mother asked him what was going on. He shouldn't be there, he should be at home with his new bride.
He told her that she didn't brown the edges of his eggs like he was used to from his mother, and so he came home. She told him to get up, put his coat on, go home and tell her he was sorry - and never to come home again over such nonsense!

That was a very smart mother!!!!!
She was a wonderful woman. She died alone in a nursing home and none of her sons came up from Florida to see her - at least not often!
I didn't go see her either, and this is one of my few regrets that I have. I'm not good around people who are sick or dying, but I was wrong to not go to her. I don't do that anymore!
