I have my list ready, Pixie Chix Roomies for Mackenzie, a baby doll with elecronics(?)
for Kassidy and the Star Wars Trilogy Video Game for the 55" HDTV screen, so it has
to be xbox and not ps2. I don't know what they're talking about, and I think they're way too spoiled, but I haven't seen them in almost 2 years, and I'm not about to make waves.

How many of you have 55" HDTV sets? I don't have any!

Christmas is coming! God, please let me win some money.

Wait until I post pix though. They are just adorable children, and I am excited!

When you survive the toy store and have completely healed (lol!) then let us know if you found it all. Don't forget to add a good book or art material for each of them from you so they learn about the world of their grandmother. Wishing you lots of money!

It is hard to pick out toys for grandchildren because we really don't see them enough to know what they really play with. I prefer to buy toys that help to build their imagination. I hate electronics and have a hard time buying them. Kids need to be outside playing, running, and having fun not stuck playing computer games. OK......I'm off of my soapbox!!!!!!! Just close your eyes and get what they've asked for. Next year you can pick out what YOU think that they should have. Maybe clothes and a small toy.

I know that you're very excited and we're all excited for you and we're looking forward to seeing pictures of their cute little faces! Have fun!!!!

Judy, you're so lucky to get to buy toys for the little ones. We don't have small children in the family anymore. Our youngest is my niece and my son and they are 16.

I went, I bought, I spent! I met the nicest cashier. We had each other laughing out loud. I have to say, I do have fun.

Dilemma of the day - they were out of Mackenzie's toy. Amazon.com luckily, will ship it out for free by Wednesday. I must remember to cancel my Amaszzon medmbership in whatever I signed up for in order to get that quick shipping for free. It was a one time trial and membership costs $79/year! :yelrotflmao:

Glad Amazon had it. I order from there everytime I turn around so the cheaper shipping option pays off for me. I get our vitamins there, books for my work with my students, books for book group, kitchen supplies... the list goes on and on. Did you find anything that says "Grandma" in additional to their requests?

Judy, I'm so glad you had such a great time shopping. It really helps when the store clerks and cashiers are helpful and nice. With so many people they have to deal with I'm surprised they are civil to anyone. They must love your happiness and smile as much as we do here!

Judy, I'm so glad you're getting to do gifts for the grandkids this year.
I always enjoy that part of being a grandma.

My oldest Granddd is a horse lover, and knows I used to have horses, so she assigned me the task of finding horse related items for her. I got her a wooden stable that fits Breyer horses for her birthday which is in 2 weeks, and for Christmas I got her a pretty throw with horses on, a James Herriot book with horse stories, and a silver bracelet with horses on.

My youngest granddd is a Dora fanatic. So I got her a really cute 3 piece denim pants, jacket and shirt set; panties; and pajamas; all with Dora on.

The girls have 7 grandmas and 4 grandpas in total, so have more toys than they can possibly play with or have room for. So I see no point in adding to the pile but get a few more practical items that match their current interests instead.

That's nice Tink. I don't know if I'm going to be able to make waves about Christmas and birthdays. We do have to choose our battles, but I really would love to start a new tradition about gifts for the children.

I do not enjoy just throwing money down at Toys R Us for gifts that are meaningless.

Maybe by summer, when they all have their birthdays, I'll be able to make a change.
However, like I said, I'm going to be careful about which battles I choose - it's not important enough to start any real trouble over.

I have lots of Grandma stuff, Kate. When I retired, I "gifted" myself with wonderful science books, a real microscope, and all kinds of lovely things. I knew the Dept. of Ed. would want me to have them, so I just didn't discuss it with them!

I'm going to go through the huge carton they're sitting in tomorrow. It weighs a ton,
but I'll get it upstate.

Tink, it sounds like you have your Christmas shopping about done! Boy, I wish that I had an idea where to even start with mine!!!

Judy, I'm glad that you were able to get all the toys that were on your list. Sometime in the future you can put in a few creative ideas of your own to get them instead. Like you said, choose your battles carefully! You're going to have so much fun these holidays that I can't wait to hear all about them!!!!

Don't you love it, Judy! I have a microscope and slides and a planetarium projector and other goodies that I kept, too. I am all set for the kids that come to visit. There is always something interesting they can do here that they can't do at home.

I learned with one relative not to ask the kids or mom as they always had to rich a list for me. I just did my best and I think they liked it anyway!

Judy - I bet it's just been a blast shopping!! I'm thrilled for you. It will be such fun to sit down and wrap those gifts and smile. Even bigger smiles when they open all the goodies. :p
