Hi ladies...we've talked at different times about things we've made and I know I've mentioned that I like to do woodworking when I have the time. Here are some Christmas decorations that I've made.

These next ones I made out of landscaping timbers. I can tell after posting all the pictures that I need to get the paint out and do some touch up work...LOL

Wow Janet, you did a great job!!! Your decorations remind me of my grandparents woodwork. They used to do a lot of that kind of stuff. I would always be so happy of they let me paint something. :)

Janet!!!! You've been hiding your talents from us!!!! Those are all so cute!!! I really liked the timber snowmen. They are adorable! Does your husband cut your designs out for you? My husband doesn't do any thing with wood.

No, I got a scrollsaw one year for Christmas and I do all of it. Now we have alot of woodworking tools so it makes it easier. I don't do much in the summer though...hot and sticky and the sawdust sticks to me. I really enjoy it when it's not too hot out.

I've always thought that it would be really handy to have woodworking tools but I don't think that I'd use them very much! You know......another thing to have sit around and take up room!

I know how you feel Diana. I just posted on another thread that I would like to try making the cards, but I haven't read in a long time, sewn anything for a long time and haven't even done woodworking for quite a while. I love doing those things...time just has a way of slipping away and now that we have 4WT, I'd rather be here with all of you.

They are really nice Janet. I know how much work they are since my step dad and my uncle did this type of work for years as a hobby. You did a good job.

Here is my home ready for Christmas. I didn't put out as many decorations as I use to. Just not enough places to sit things. I feel like I live in a small flea market as it is with what I have sitting around every day of the year.
First of is my family room, in the second picture you can see my phone Diana. The 3rd picture is my living room (tree). Pretty plain and nothing special about it. I didn't put the bottom row of limbs on it this year. Hangs too low when the gifts are under the tree. My dear friend Lynne has talked me into waiting until after Christmas to get a new tree when they will be on sale.
Last is the kitchen. I've got my tins stacked up ready to be washed. I always make something for the neighbors and use tins or the plastic kind to put the treats in.
Hi Debbie!!! Just saw you posted while I was getting this post ready!! Hope you're feeling good today. I think of you a lot during my days and will continue to say prayers until you are dancing around from beating this illness completely, and it's going to happen!

Thanks Janet. I have felt really well for a few days. I know I will beat this but I don't know about the dancing--never could do that well--but after this is over I might try.
Your house looks really nice. I am working on mine--don't think I will do much out side like I usually do. I don't think I will have the energy to climb around and hang lights.

Since I posted my decorations that I made....I just wanted to say, the shelves on the wall in my family room....I made those too.
Diana, now you can see the faux painting I had done. Not the best I like yours soooo much better. I'm going back to white and then doing my kitchen like yours. I love it.

Janet, your house is beautful, you really need to stop being so hard on yourself all the time. I have been to your home and everytime it has been perfect.
I need to hire you as my home decorator I just dont have the nack for doing that kind of stuff, plus it dosent help that I have a slob for a husband.
I guess I need to drag out my tree and get it put up also (:( ) I just hate doing it by myself every year.
Nice job Janet.

Janet, your home looks just lovely!!! I love your fireplace!!!! We had one in the plans for our house but took it out because of the room it was going to take up. I would love to have one though. Your decoriations look very nice and it definitely looks like Christmas at your house!!!!
I saw your faux painting but couldn't tell too much from the angle you had. It looks pretty nice though. I think that you're just ready for a change! Oh, and I did see the old phone!!! Great minds think alike!!!

Janet - Your home is soooo cozy and darling. My favorite is your fireplace/mantle. It's BEAUTIFUL!!! Well....It's a toss up though with your kitchen cuz I love that too.
I think the Christmas decorations are cute - Nothing is better than seeing stockings hung up. It's such a warm heartfelt feeling of Santa coming for all those kids. (maybe grown ups too if their good :D )
I like how you decorate with all the warm colors. It's all just darling.
Gosh....only a few more weeks. I really need to be thinking about putting my Christmas decor up.
Janet.. Wow you are talented.. You did a beautiful job on the decorations. I bet it is a lot of work. Your home is lovely and tastefully done. It looks nice and cozy.
Sheryl I am with you, I better get my Christmas stuff out, you girls are way ahead of me. lol

Angie, they all look so sweet. I really need to get my babies some holiday clothes. They have drawers of clothes, but not any for the holidays. How did I screw that up?..lol:)

Thank you for the compliment. I think it looks okay (the paint job), but it doesn't look as nice and uniform as yours does. Yours looks professionally done, very nice. You're right though, I am so ready for a change.

Thanks everyone for the lovely compliments. I think my place is okay, I just like everyone elses better. I wish my rooms were so much bigger. Back when we build the house (1976) that was the style of ranch homes for this area, family room and living room. Now I wish I could just have one huge family room. The way the rooms are arranged though, it would cost a fortune to remodel it and well, hubby couldn't care less.
Sheryl, the mantle is from a barn a couple miles from us. It is an original hand hewn barn beam. We just sanded it a little to get the dirt off and then polyurathaned it.

Janet,
I bet Chipper would lave to come see you but he would just want all that love you give your puppies. The only presents he gives is lots of wet kisses.
Your house looks beautiful--we just always think someone else does a better job.:)
Janet, you've done a wonderful job!
I LOVE your snowmen especially!
I collect snowmen, so those are always my favorites.

I think that any one who likes to decorate is always wishing that "something" was different. I know that I wish that a few of my rooms were bigger too. Several of our friends have built homes after we built ours and there's always something that makes me wish I could change what I have. But then I remember that there's a verse about being content in Philippians 4:10-14. It's about being content with what ever I have. And I'm blessed with so much more than some others are.
Also, that is so cool that your mantle about your mantle. It makes it unique!

Not till tomorrow as that is when the tree goes up and stuff.

My artificial tree finally up. I wrapped the pictures on the wall that don't go with the Christmas theme.
2306
Close up to show the little dolls I bought for the tree.
2304
My Christmas Carousel... It plays music, lights up and goes around with the horses moving up and down like a big one.

Tink - your tree is beautiful! I like the blue tones and the sweet little dolls.
What a great idea about wrapping the pictures by the tree to match!!
I never would have thought of that and just might be doing that today when I decorate.
This is what makes this site so great. The women here just have wonderful ideas and tips to share. "Thanks!"

I agree. Your tree is beautiful!!! I love the dolls on the tree, what a cute touch. And wrapping your pictures to look like presents........what a great idea!!!!
Tink,
It's beautiful. I love the gingham ribbon and the dolls, but that carousel is my favorite. I think they're so beautiful, big real ones, and small ones alike.
Thanks ladies.
Judy, I lucked out and got my carousel for $5 at a garage sale! I love it too. The grandkids really enjoy it as well.
We came home today after being away overnight for dhs company Christmas party to find Shannon (Joels Fiancee) had left her puppy in the house unattended overnight and the naughty pup chewed the wrapping off several gifts, tore up the boxes they were in and pulled the gifts out. Grrrrrrrrrrr so now I have to wrap them all over again! Luckily she didn't chew any of the gifts themselves.
She also chewed the front of the bottom shelf of the stand the carousel sits on, so I have to try to repair that. :(

Tink I just saw this...your tree is really pretty. You have some great decorations on it. I think next year I want to use a ribbon on mine too for the garland. Every year I look at the carousels, they are so pretty and lovely Christmas music.
I think I would be asking for help from the Shannon to get things rewrapped and repaired.
