For the past week my gum was bothering me and I went to see my dentist today. Well I have a tooth abscess and he gave me the news that I was expecting. I have a bridge and this has to come out. I have three teeth that have to be extracted. I need three dental implants. I am very nervous, I am taking antibodics but this morning I woke up with my eye bothering me , it feels like when you are getting a sinus infection. Mine is due to the eye tooth being infected..

Monday I go to him to take impressions for a partial removable bridge. Then he will start the extractions.. I am a nervous wreck. I am pertified to have my teeth extracted and the thought of implants makes me cringe.. Yes Judy I know that you have had them and said it was not bad at all. So I am going by your word lol. Along with being scared of pain its also a very big pain in the wallet...lol But I don't think that I would like false teeth that come out...

I am sitting here worried now about my eye, have any of you ladies had any dental abscesses? I guess it will take a few days for the antibodics to start working. I am sooooooooooo chicken.

Sorry you are going through this Gina. Yes, I've had an abcess before and it's a good thing you went to the doctor and placed on antibiotics.

You will like the implants, no worries I promise. This is what my hubby and I do all day. We make those implants, the bridges/partials, dentures, and crowns. So, out of your choices the implants are your best choice. Yes they are very costly but worth it in the end. It's a long process but you wont be dissapointed in the end.

Those antibiotics will kick in soon and you should be feeling better real soon!

Oh Gina, I'm sorry you're having dental problems. I too am scared of dental work. About 6 years ago I had a tooth split down the middle so the dentist pulled it. Then he wanted me to get a partial or something, but I would have to have two perfectly good teeth pulled so I said no. The tooth missing is way on the side so only shows if I laugh really really hard. Besides back then it was gonna cost $1800...WOW We don't have dental insurance so all the money has been going to take care of my son's teeth. Not sure what we're going to do if something comes up for hubby or myself.

Sure hope the antibiotics kick in soon and you start feeling better. I can't tell you not to be scared...I am always scared of going to the dentist.

I feel so bad for you Gina. It's good that you're on antibiotics. An abscess takes a little while to go away. I hope the pain eases up soon.

Sheryl is right - implants are the best. I didn't know you guys did that Sheryl.
Is it fun, playing with teeth? I've had so much work done that I think I would like doing that.

Gina, I don't blame you for being scared. I already know it's nothing, but you don't.

Keep us posted. I'm sending you a toothache hug!

"Playing with teeth", that's cute Judy. It is fun I will say.

I hope that your antibiotics kick in soon and you start feeling better. Any kind of teeth work is no fun! When I was little we went to an old army doctor! Talk about rough! Anyway it's made me not like dentists but I'm a good girl and go once a year like I'm suppose to.

I've never had an abscess so I'm not any help on that matter. It sounds like the other girls know what the right thing to do with your teeth is and it sounds like what you're doing is right way to go. Good luck with everything!!!

Thanks Mandy! I will remember to do that if he hurts me lol.

I went today and took the impressions I thought I was going to throw up...lol yuck it made me gag.. Thats over with. Now I have to wait until Jan. 14th to remove my bridge and extract the three teeth. He is going away the begining of Jan. and my temp. should be back by then. I am taking the antibodics am feeling better. I will continue to take them for about a week. Hopefully the infection doesn't come back.

Thanks for the well wishes

Aww, Gina, I'm so sorry you're having to go through all of this. I hope it goes as smoothly (and painlessly) as possible! Are the antibiotics starting to work now?

Feel better! *hugs*

Gina - you are not alone in gagging. The majority of those receiving the impressions gag.

Often we will receive a case and the prescription says "Unable to obtain good impression as patient is a gagger".

I can't even brush my teeth w/out gagging. So know you are not alone. ;)

Glad you are feeling better.

Never had to worry about being a gagger...lol, but my older brother is having a hard time with his dentures. Every time he puts them in he gags...not sure what he'll do about it.

Anyway Gina, glad you're feeling better and can put off the procedure until after the first of the year.

I hope you're feeling better Gina. Isn't that impression thing awful? I zone out as soon as he starts working on me. I close my eyes and go off into my own crazy little world.

Do you like your dentist? I think that's important. I really like mine. It helps.

I once had a dentist who had me all set up for root canal or something. He told me then that he'd be right back - he had to do something on another patient. I told him that would be fine, but to be prepared because I was prone to serious anxiety attacks. (I'm not). He was a little annoyed, but finished my work really fast!
