Here are some pics of what I got from Bren. I was so happy! I love trying out new recipes and new spices, but they are just SO expensive...and he got me a gorgeous spice rack that came with 21 different spices! I'm excited to try them out!
Also, he got me a beautiful assortment of preserves, which he knows I love. I used to get some every year from my grandfather, so this was the first year I wasn't going to have any for Christmas. Brendon remembered and got some for me. Papaw would be happy to know he's taking such good care of me. It was a very emotional gift, but I'm so glad that he put so much thought into it. There were other stocking stuffers and little things as well, but I won't bore you with all of that. :)
I also got some really neat stuff from Mom, including board games and a digital picture frame keychain, but I didn't take pics of those.
So what did everyone else get?? I'd love to see your pics as well! :)

Looks like you were a good girl Angie. How sweet of Brendon to get you the preserves. That made my eyes well up.
Let's see, I rec'd 2 pair of pj's from my Mom, Ricky got me a Celine Dion CD 'Taking Chances' and a book by Robyn McGraw titled 'From My Heart To Yours.'
Hubby got me a book by Eliszabeth Gilbert titled 'Eat, Pray, Love', a web-cam (still haven't got it hooked up yet, maybe today) and some recordable CD's. I was a good girl too, huh?
What did everyone else get?

Neat, Angela! I've been wanting a nice spice rack too but haven't ever gotten one. You'll really enjoy it. And the preserves too...that's so sweet of Brendon. Seriously you two are so special together!
Oooh, Janet! One of my closest college friends keeps telling me to get that book "Eat, Pray, Love". Let me know what you think when you read it. I'll most likely be getting it soon for myself. :)
This year was a really small family Christmas for me (which was fine by me b/c we just had the huge family Thanksgiving)...my brother got me an iPod! And my parents got me a huge bag of groceries along with a gift certificate for a new ShootSac (http://shootsac.com/)...which I've been drooling over for months now!
And just as nice as the presents was the food! This year was the 1st year I actually did a bulk of the Christmas cooking myself. (I didn't want my mom to have to slave away in the kitchen all by herself.) I cooked a LOT on Christmas eve and took it over to my parents, and then spent the night. It was really good! I am so blessed to have a wonderful family. I have pictures but haven't gotten them from my CF card just yet.

Angie, Brendon is such a sweet and thoughtful man!!! Definitely a keeper!!! What a special gift that the preserves were, especially when you understand why her got them and the spice rack was a wonderful gift too!!!
Janet, you got really nice gifts too. I just love to get pj's for Christmas especially when they feel really soft. A couple of books and a cd -- it looks like you're ready for a long winter day!!!!
Val- It sounds like you had a very nice Christmas. It was so thoughtful of you to help your mother with the cooking! I know how much I appreciate the girls helping me out. And your family really knew what you wanted with the Shootsac!!!! We'll be looking forward to your pictures!!!
My husband and I didn't exchange gifts since we bought the tv but the kids got some stuff for us. My husband and I got a gift card to eat at Kobe's Steakhouse!!! Yummm!!!!! Then I got a portable cd player (but I'm going to return it because I have one), a silver ring, rose-shaped candles and a bowl to float them in, bath salts, a yorkie Christmas ornament, and a box of thin mints! Plus we got school pictures of the grandkids. All-in-all a good Christmas!!!!

I sure will. It's going to take me awhile. I want to take my time and really know what I'm reading if that makes sense. I've been told to underline some things and make notes to go back to. I am just so anxious to read this book, I just can't tell you how much. I hope it makes me feel the way those that have reviewed it said it will. Matter of fact, my husband said when he purchased the book, the cashier and someone else in line said it was the best.

Well I was all excited about the guitar lessons Kyle got me, and then Christmas morning came and my parents had gotten me ANOTHER 10 lessons from the same place! So I'm basically gonna be a guitar superstar by the time summer comes :) I also got a couple of books (Bad Dogs Have More Fun by John Grogan, and Chicken Soup for the Shopper's Soul). The big present was money for my trip to Mexico (4 weeks away!!!!!!!!). I got enough to cover my plane ticket! I no longer have to put any of the trip on my credit card! Then I just got a bunch of little stuff for my trip... a passport and ID holder thing, some luggage locks and luggage tags, and a little set of make-up and accessory cases. Overall it was a really good Christmas :D We went boxing-day shopping and I used a gift card from my brother to buy a whole load of tank tops and pretty shirts for Mexico... for less than $5 each!
Girls you all made out awesome :) My hubby brought me a pair of Coach sunglasses that I wanted and pjs. My kids gave us gift certificate to our fav. restaurant .
Family members gave my husband and I another two gift cards to other restaurants . I got a beautiful throw blanket from my sons g/f. Body lotion basket, ornaments, and an angel statue from my friends..

I hope you enjoy your gift cards! What restaurants are you going to? Traci gave me lots of body lotions and shower gels and stuff as well. I love things that smell good! :)
Oh, and I forgot to mention that Bren's mom and step-dad sent us two books and a $50 American Express gift card. She asked what we wanted and we told her 1984 by George Orwell because it's a classic that I've always wanted to read. It sounded really interesting. I'm halfway through and so far I'm just completely intrigued. She also sent Animal Farm by the same author. I've already read it, but it has been a long time (since middle school) so I'm excited to re-read it even though it's pretty sad. I'm hoping 1984 has a happy ending. It's been fun to read together with Bren every night before bed. He's been reading the Eragon book I got him while I read 1984 and then we're going to switch.
Janet, I can't wait to hear about your book. Maybe it should be the next one I read? :)

Everyone got some really special things. It's so cool when our families go out and really put some thought into what they buy for us. So many of you have posted that I really cannot refer to all of your wonderful gifts, but you definitely have some very thoughtful and caring families.
My family & friends were also very thoughtful this year. I'm almost embarassed to list everything. I got an HDTV for the bedroom with a digital cable box/DVR so I can watch my favorite shows (Desperate Housewives & Grey's Anatomy) whenever I want to, a 2 hr fire rated safe so I can protect my important stuff, Dolce & Gabbana cologne, a cooking pot that I really wanted to go with my set, a sweater, a Photobucket calendar of our summer vacation, some pink golf balls, some stuffed animals (that play music), a bride Christmas ornament (since Melissa is getting married in June), and probably the coolest gift of all, an iPhone so I can stay connected to 4WT and e-mail wherever and whenever I go:cool: .
Hubby says the TV was really for both of us, since he likes to get away back in our bedroom from time to time as well. They really went all out this year and over did it some, but it will all be put to very good use. Not sure about the stuffed animals thought. Don't know what to do with them, but they are cute.
Best present of all though was having everyone here on Christmas day. Even had one of our friends over to complete the day!!

OOPS!! Forgot one thing. Hubby got me a shiny metal plate tool box for the bed of my big red pickup truck. Now I can get all the stuff out from under the back seat so when I lift the seats to put big things in back, the floor space is empty!! Another very useful gift. They did not carry this one in the house on Christmas morning. :)

WOW!!! You sure were good weren't you? I don't think I've ever gotten that many items for Christmas, but I've always gotten what I needed and if I didn't need anything, I usually got what I wanted.
I do like your taste in TV shows though, Desperate Housewives and Greg's Anatomy are two of my favorites too. Desperate Housewives will be back with the end of the 2 parter on January 6th. I can't wait!!

Good to know when DH will be back. Things have been so off kilter due to the Holidays, I wasn't sure when the reruns would be over. I think I've probably missed an episode or two of each of them. I'll have to check the website and see what's going on. Maybe I can watch what I've missed online or something. The new TV should have connections to be able to use it as a monitor. I may have to check that out.

The reruns might also have something to do with the writer's strike. I hope they come to an agreement soon. I miss watching Heroes. :(

You're right Angie, the writers strike has a lot to do with it. I had read somewhere that they had already taped the 2nd part to DH, but were just waiting to show it because it is such a dramatic topic.

Have you heard any news about the strike? Have there been any compromises or anything at all to suggest that they might reach an agreement soon?

No I haven't. There was an article in the paper about the writers stike, but it had nothing to do with when it would be over, talks, nothing. I hate to say this, but it does give me more time to be on the computer and do get other things done. I must watch too much TV and didn't realize it.

lol, it adds up when you think about it. An hour show this day, another the next day...and so on. And if you miss an episode, you're behind! I think they plan it that way on purpose. lol

You're right. Sometimes I get too wrapped up in the shows. Makes me feel guilty too, so much life to live and experience and I'm sitting in front of a picture box...lol

Well, I feel the same way about the internet sometimes. We all have our guilty pleasures. :)
I love my guilty pleasures, TV being one of them. The lack of shows is because they've run out of episodes due to the writer's strike. I tape lots of old Law and Order type stuff and just watch it. Letterman is paying his writers more money on his own, so he will begin with new shows tonight.
I got really nice Christmas gifts. I got a lovely silver and abalone bracelet, an onyx and silver necklace and earring set and my daughter snuck in a beautiful watch and matching silver bracelet set. (SIL didn't know about it b3ecause they're trying to budget).
I really enjoyed this Christmas, buying the kid's gifts, special boots for my SIL, and a
handmade silver necklace with a lion on it that stands for courage. That was for my daughter because I think thst she has shown so much courage in the face of her MS.
I didn't know if she would like it, but she loved what it stands for and because I bought it for her. She said she'll wear it when she needs to be strong. I also bought her a pocketbook and a dress.
I was a good girl this year!
