Did you make new years resolutions this year?

No, I use to though. I always ended up breaking the resolution and then feeling bad..so I quit. Now I've changed it to mostly what I 'hope' for the future.

Nope. Rather than make resolutions, I'm just trying my best to be more organized, lose some weight, be more faithful at my Bible study and reading. A friend and I are reading the Bible together. We actually started before Christmas. With all the holiday activities and such, we have only read about 30 chapters, but it's a start. We're reading individually and then getting together and discussing what we have read. We are not on a set schedule, just trying to read as much as we can and cheer each other on. If anyone on here wishes to join us, you are very welcome to do so. We could start a special thread or something. I've read and studied the Bible all my life, but have never made it from Genesis 1:1 all the way to the end of Revelations. But we are determined to do so and as quickly as we can. Definitely in less than a year. I forgot how many hours it should take a normal reader, but it's really not that bad a challenge.

Drew Carey was on TV a couple of nights ago and got into talking about reading the bible. I forget what religion he was brought up in, but he talked about there being bibles that are set up so that you read a part every day and at the end of one year, you have read the whole bible.

It was a very sweet story because he's a TV celebrity and told it so simply and sincerely.

I don't make resolutions any more because I just don't follow through with them.

I know that reading my Bible more is always on my list when I do make one. I have a Bible that is broken down into daily reading for two years. At the end you've read the New Testament twice and the Old Testament once and, I think, Psalms twice. It also has little prayers at the end of each reading for the day.

Our pastor asked this morning who had made resolutions this year and several hands went up and then he asked how many were still keeping them and a couple of hands went up!!! That's not very good odds!!!!!!

I didn't make any. I usually don't. No reason, I just never felt compelled to.

Good luck to anyone who did make a resolution!

I wanted to be healthier this year. I was going to start running on my treadmill every second day after work, and doing sit-ups on the days in between. So far I have not ran on my treadmill or done one sit-up since new years :)

I would love to be able to read it through in one year. I have started many times, but have yet to make it through the whole Bible.

I don't usually do new years' resolutions.....and this year I didn't specifically have any "official new years resolutions" BUT I have made it a point to myself to make goals for myself all the time, not just on new years. If I feel that I need to make a change in my life, or would like to set a goal, I try to go for it no matter what time of year it is.

So, in a way, this year, I have "resolved" to make "resolutions" all year round....to set goals and constantly work towards them. :D

Just to name some of my goals I'm working on right now:

1. I am trying to eat healthier. One of my best friends is doing the South Beach thing, and doesn't know how to cook (like, at all) so I've been trying to help cook...which means I'm 'sortof' doing the South Beach thing too (haha!)

2. In the next couple of months, I will join a gym (when I get a new roommate and can afford it)....so I can tone up and get those endorphins (sp?) going! Working out is not just good for the health of your physical appearance - it also makes you happier and puts you in a good mood!

3. I am trying to keep my house clean more consistently. I am tired of getting it really clean and then next time I turn around it's really messy and then it takes hours to get back to really clean again. Too much of a roller coaster!

4. I'm thinking about getting a new car this year. Not new-new, but something really cool and new-to-me. So, I'm starting to look. I know that's not a "resolution" of sorts, but it's a goal to me, so I included it here.

5. This year, I will spend more time on "me". I will stand up for myself and not let myself get pushed around by friends (even with the best of intentions)....to stay out too late, drink too much, or become so social I never have any down-time. (I am very guilty of this so I'm trying to plan more time to relax and "recharge my batteries" so to speak.)

6. I have trichotillomania (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trichotillomania) and I'm so annoyed! I am trying to be more mindful of this and find a way to "cure" myself. LOL. I know if you've never heard of this you're probably way confused  but trust me, it's more common than you think. My friend Heidi has it bad too and actually, so does my dad! I'm making it a goal to try to figure out how to overcome this ridiculousness.

Ok...there are more but that's the main ones for now! Thanks for "listening".
