View Full Version : Jessie has me worried
She woke up a couple of nights ago with a lot of pain in her wrist, her arm was all blotchy and it was numb and ice cold. Her neck hurt too. With MS, you just never know when an attack will come.
She went to the doctor yesterday and he thinks she may have a pinched nerve in her neck that's causing a blood clot in her arm which won't allow the blood to circulate properly. Not MS related (thank goodness) but blood clots can travel. She went for an MRI this morning and has to go back Tuesday for her results.
She also has heart issues which may have been from the pain meds she was on originally. She told me today that she's going to the cardiologist next week too to follow up on that. She says she can feel her heartbeat slow down and she gets very tired. She decided that maybe her meds are too high again. I hope it's that simple!
Tuesday is the day Gracie Leigh gets her stitches out. God willing, I won't have to, but I can just drive up there if she needs me.
Even before the MS, I used to tease her and tell her that she was just such a flower. I'm so healthy (Thank you, God!) and she's just fragile. I really wish she had my genes. I've never even been hospitalized except to give birth!

Judy, I'm so sorry to hear that your daughter isn't feeling well. I know that she is one of the main worries in your life especially since she has MS. I hope that everything is as simple to get back in order as she makes it sound. I'll keep her in my prayers.

Judy,
Jessie will be in our prayers, hoping for a speedy recovery, and nothing serious...
Thanks - she has an appt. tomorrow with the doctor. Her blood tests came back okay. She doesn't know what he was looking for.
She doesn't sound worried. She has become a real champ!
She says she's not sorry she got MS. She feels that she really grew up and learned what's important from it. I am amazed at how she has grown!
Her husband isn't home this week. He's working down here until Friday. I offered him an invitation to stay here, but he wouldn't be comfortable - he4 likes to lay down in his undershorts and watch TV after work. I don't blame him!
I'll see what the doctor tells Jess tomorrow. If it's anything serious, I'll drive up and stay with her.

Keep us informed okay Judy? I'll keep her in my prayers and you too!
Jess went to the doctor today. He found nothing wrong with her blood or her neck on the MRI.
She has an appointment next week with a new neurologist upstate and with a cardiologist I think. The doctor today said it may be MS related - he can't find anything else.
She's not sounding too worried about it, except that her wrist hurts. I'm hoping the pain subsides by the time she gets to the neurologist. I doubt if they'll figure it out - especially if it's related to the MS. Symptoms come and go with MS - some big and some small.
As long as no other new symptoms pop up, it's part of what she has. Neurological disorders are very strange. They're not even sure she has MS - at least 2 doctors told her that and she has decided to believe them. There are a few other things that are similar and are treated the same.
I figure if it makes her happy to not think she has it, fine.
I pray a lot for her and that's all I can do.
Judy I am happy to hear that they did not find anything wrong with Jessie. That alone is good news.. I don't know to much about MS but I do hope they find a cure for these diseases.. My prayers are with you and your daughter always.

I'm glad they didn't find anything wrong...that's a good thing. As long as she's taking the best care of herself and keeping with her Drs., I'd just enjoy her. I don't know anything about MS either except that Montel Williams and Annette Funicello have it. They are doing so much research now and finding ways to help some. If this is indeed what your daughter has, I hope they can keep it in check.
I didn't know Annette F. has it. So does Teri Garr.
You're right. They are making strides in medicine. I take one day at a time with this.
Jessie has shingles. She woke up with a rash right where the pain is, and went to the doctor.
I hope it's not a long bout of shingles! She has to do without pain meds for it because she's on strong MS medication. The doctor told her that it's contagious and only people who haven't had chicken pox won't catch it. That's new to me.
Anyway, of course her husband is down here working. He'll be home tomorrow though. I told her I would come up if it's an emergency. (I surely don't want to though - I want to stay home and continue getting my house in order). Her house is so hectic!
I'll do what I have to but......;
I feel sorry for her. Shingles is hard to kick isn't it?

I'm so sorry that Jessie has shingles. It does come from the chicken pox virus being stored in your body somewhere so I suppose that you would be contagious if you had it. I know that sometimes it can be hard to get rid of but I really don't know too much about it. Tink had shingles last year so she can probably tell you more than I can. I'll be praying for her.

Judy, i'm sorry Jessy is going through this, shingels on top of MS. Hope this will all pass soon, so she can get back to her normal life.
I will keep her in my T&P!

Oh Judy, I'm sorry Jessie has shingles. My Mom had that a couple of years ago. It last a couple months, but it's different with everyone. It made Mom miserable at times. I don't remember if she took anything for it or not. Hopefully for Jessie it will pass quickly.
Judy, if she has to have something... I'm glad it's something that is more annoying than dangerous. Shingles definetely fits that description.
Some take pain meds for it, others don't have to. I was able to go without which was lucky since I'm on so much other stuff that it's no fun to take more. Pain meds just make me feel tired and nasty. I found it to be more itchy than painful unless I pressed on it, and then it did hurt. Mine was on my side though... along my ribs and waist... so that might make a difference too.
