Ok so I'm a sucker right?

I took a paypal payment today on the last puppy, so am totally out of pups to sell.

And now I feel bad... I had 2 families at the last minute want this last pup. Neither could get here right away due to distance and work etc. So yesterday I told them both that I would accept Paypal and charge a very small daily boarding fee to which ever sent me the price first. So today the one in MN used Paypal and got the pup reserved. I had no sooner accepted the payment and the other contacted me wondering how to set up a Paypal account since they wanted him too. Sad

The couple who lost out are in Upper Michigan and seem very nice. So I was sitting here feeling bad and thinking "this is NOT what I got in this to feel like!" So I ended up making the people in Michigan an offer of first choice at a reduced price from our next litter. Ok... so I'm a sucker... Right? But I never want to disappoint a family who appreciates my pups and I do have to feel good about the way I do business. I have no clue if they will take me up on my offer, but it's the only thing I could think to do.

Tink, don't feel like a sucker. You are a kind person, and what you did is a kind thing to do. This is your business, and the wonderful thing about that is that you make the rules. It's that simple. I haven't heard back from them, so don't know what their response will be. I also sent them 3 other breeders ads for similarly priced, same generation pups. So hopefully they will find one else where and be happy.

I don't think that you're a sucker either. You have sold your dogs as first come, first serve and when they're gone, they're gone. It's too bad that the last two people had to decide to buy at about the same time. I think that you did a good thing by putting the last family on a list to be offered another pup from the next litter. You just have a very soft heart, Tink, and there's nothing wrong with that!!!

I heard back from the Mich buyer and they're being very understanding and accept that their timing was bad. They said they will continue to look for a pup, but will likely end up buying from my next litter when it arrives. So at least they're not upset with me over it. :cool:

Sometimes I'm almost too much of a push over... but I know by now that I can't be happy unless I feel I've done the right thing. Luckily Greg says this is MY business and as long as I'm not spending more than I'm making, any decisions I make are fine with him. Need I mention he's a bit of a push-over as well? lol

oh, I think that is very sweet!! That is how I got claim on my Tessa (who will be coming home to me in March). The last litter this breeder had was beautiful and I really wanted one of the little girls. But she had already decided to keep her for her breeding program. the one that was left was beautiful, but by the time I had convinced myself to get her...dh talked me out of it. So this lady sold the pup to someone else and told me that I could have pick of the next litter. which I am now so glad that I accepted because my little Tessa is just perfect. I couldn't be happier!!!!!!!!!!

your not a sucker... that was very nice of you.. i was a sucker all my life, lending friends money, trying to help people out all the time, and once i had the baby and couldn't afford to lend my "friends" money, they stopped calling.. that's ok, didn't need friends like that anyways... so im a bigger sucker than you are .
